On May 3, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee announced that it had issued a plan to implement the Program to expand screening, diagnosis, and treatment of some prenatal and newborn diseases and disabilities in the period 2026–2030 in the area.
This is a key solution to improve population quality, reduce the burden of congenital diseases and towards sustainable development.
The goal by 2030 is that 90% of young men and women will be consulted and health checked before marriage; 70% of pregnant women will be screened for at least 4 common congenital diseases and disabilities; 90% of newborns will be screened for at least 5 congenital diseases and disabilities.
To achieve the goal, the province promotes propaganda, raises awareness; encourages pre-marital health check-ups, prenatal screening and newborn care.
At the same time, improve mechanisms and policies, including support for pregnant women and newborns to use basic service packages for free.
Services from pre-marital counseling to prenatal and neonatal screening, diagnosis and treatment will be implemented according to the guidance of the Ministry of Health.
In terms of expertise, the province focuses on standardizing processes, improving service quality, investing in equipment and expanding the supply network from provincial to grassroots levels, ensuring people can easily access it.
The work of training medical personnel and population collaborators is focused on; at the same time, piloting flexible service delivery models in industrial parks, economic zones and inaccessible areas.
Khanh Hoa also promotes the application of information technology in service quality management and supervision, epidemic mapping; and at the same time strengthens socialization, mobilizing organizations and individuals to participate in providing services, improving access for people.
