According to the Hanoi Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, in the first 5 months of 2023, the whole city created jobs for 85,800 workers.

Specifically, the city entrusted the Social Policy Bank to lend a total amount of VND1,071 billion to the poor and social policy beneficiaries, helping to create jobs for 21,800 workers.

Hanoi Employment Service Center successfully organized 98 job fairs with 2,847 participating units and businesses and 20,100 interviewed workers, resulting in 6,800 people being recruited after the end of the fair;

There are 1,910 people who have been sent to work abroad for a limited period under contracts in Japan, Taiwan and South Korea; 55,200 people have created jobs for themselves through job consulting and referrals from businesses operating in the field of employment services in the city.

Also in 5 months, the city decided to provide unemployment insurance benefits to 30,400 people with a support amount of 855 billion VND, provide job consultation and referral for 29,800 people; and support vocational training for 487 people with an amount of 2.1 billion VND.

According to the Hanoi Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the prolonged COVID-19 epidemic in recent years has seriously affected people's lives, labor and employment.

In particular, the unstable security situation, economic recession, and high prices of raw materials in many fields have directly affected production and business activities in the country and the city.

Some manufacturing businesses also reduced orders due to difficulties in export markets. Banks tightened disbursement and interest rates increased.

Therefore, in the first 5 months of the year, many businesses produced at a moderate pace, leading to staff cuts and a reduction in new jobs in the first months of 2023.

Employment creation in the first months of the year faced many difficulties due to the decreasing demand for labor at foreign-invested enterprises as export orders slowed down, especially in the textile, footwear, electronics, and wood processing industries.

Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Hanoi Bach Lien Huong said that, with the aim of developing human resources with professional qualifications to immediately meet the production and business processes of employers, recently vocational training institutions have proactively sought, connected and cooperated with businesses in recruiting, training according to needs and solving employment problems.

The Department also promotes the application of information technology in job creation, perfecting the network of collecting and providing labor market information from the city to the locality through the synchronous organization of the operation of the Hanoi job exchange system.

In addition, promote short-term and long-term labor market forecasting on human resources, report trends on employment status, career trends, industries heavily affected by the epidemic, and developing industries attracting human resources in the coming time.

In the second quarter of 2024, the Hanoi Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs advised the City People's Committee to issue a Plan to implement the Project "Propaganda and dissemination of laws to employees and employers to meet the requirements of implementing international labor commitments in the period 2023-2030"; Plan to select and appoint labor mediators in the city in 2024.

In particular, the city will organize a conference to disseminate and equip knowledge of labor and social insurance laws at 12 secondary schools, colleges and universities in the capital.
