Happiness for repatriated workers
Returning to his hometown in Dong Thap after a difficult time in Binh Duong, through connections, Mr. Nguyen Van Luong (Thap Muoi district) started working in the ironing department of Dai Phat Garments Company Limited. “In Binh Duong, I always had to endure the “all-inclusive” pressure: rent costs, traffic jams after work, lack of family warmth...” - Mr. Luong shared.
After a period of ideological struggle, Mr. Luong boldly returned home, started working at Dai Phat Company and quickly achieved double results: receiving many preferential policies, living close to parents, siblings... Thanks to hard work, Mr. Luong's income is up to 13 - 14 million VND/month. With the price level in rural areas like Thap Muoi district, this is enough income for workers to accumulate and voluntarily stay long-term.
Also at this company, Ms. Le Thi Thao Nhi (23 years old, Thap Muoi district) was just hired to work in the packaging department a week ago. Through a social networking application, Ms. Nhi was connected with a job by the Dong Thap province Employment Service Center. "Not only did I get a job near my home, I also couldn't get a salary of more than 10 million VND/month in a big city before" - Ms. Nhi shared.
These are two of thousands of cases of Dong Thap workers returning home and finding happiness in their hometown after the province promoted its labor connection policy.
Mr. Vo Van Tan - Deputy Director of Dong Thap Provincial Employment Service Center - said that, facing the situation of workers working outside the province returning to their hometowns but not finding jobs, while many local businesses are thirsty for labor, Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee has directed to promote the connection between labor supply and demand.
Continue connecting in depth
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Han - CEO of Dai Phat Company expressed her satisfaction with the spirit and working attitude of the workers connected through the Dong Thap Provincial Employment Service Center. From there, Dai Phat boldly deployed the construction of a second facility in Dong Thap by the end of this year. However, that is just the beginning of the strategy to help workers find happy jobs right in their hometown in Dong Thap province. Because not only promoting the connection of workers to work directly after returning home, Dong Thap also aims to receive workers with a long-term vision.
By issuing a policy to support many expenses, Dong Thap has been attracting qualified workers to boldly return home to continue studying, expanding opportunities to find stable jobs and even become their own boss in the future.
A typical case is that of Mr. Nguyen Van Tu (born in 2001, Hong Ngu City), who is a student of the 28th course of Automotive Technology at the Dong Thap Provincial Vocational Training Center. “When I learned that the Dong Thap Provincial Vocational Training Center applied many policies to support vocational training for returning workers, such as supporting 70% of tuition fees, 2 meals, dormitory, bicycles... I decided to quit my manual labor job in Long An to return to my hometown to study a trade, both to have the opportunity to be close to home and to have more opportunities to rise up and become rich in my hometown,” said Mr. Tu.
Speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Vo Van Tan said that in the coming days, the unit will speed up opening a bridge for repatriated workers from the provinces and cities of the Southeast region with employers in the province to meet the soaring demand for labor recruitment near Tet due to the boom in production activities.
"We hope this will be an opportunity and a good condition for Dong Thap workers to find happiness right at home" - Mr. Tan informed.
Since the beginning of 2024, Dong Thap province has organized 23 job fairs, attracting 358 businesses with more than 6,800 workers and students to attend. Through the fairs, jobs have been created for more than 36,500 workers. This is considered an outstanding achievement of Dong Thap in the context that many localities in the Mekong Delta are struggling with the paradox: businesses have difficulty recruiting workers, while the number of unemployed workers is very high.
