On April 17, in Thanh Hoa province, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) opened a training course on professional development of trade union organization and staff in 2025. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - chaired the conference.

Speaking at the Conference, Vice Chairman of Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Xuan Hung has passed the situation of Vietnam Trade Union organization. Accordingly, as of October 2024, the whole country has 83 units, including 63 Labor Federation of provinces and cities and 19 central trade unions and equivalent, Trade Union of the Corporation under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. The trade union directly has 1,226 units; Nationwide has more than 127,000 grassroots trade unions and grassroots unions, with more than 11.8 million members.
The Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor also conveyed some basic contents on the work of organizing and staffing trade unions in the spirit of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW dated October 25, 2017 of the Central Executive Committee, on continuing to innovate and reorganize the apparatus of the political system to be streamlined and operate effectively and efficiently.
Information on a number of projects to merge, reorganize and streamline agencies under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, accordingly, from November 2024 to present, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has reorganized and reduced from 9 departments to 6 departments (equivalent to a reduction of 33.33%).
For the Central industry trade union, there has been an arrangement and consolidation of the Construction Trade Union and the Vietnam Transport Trade Union; renaming the Information and Communications Trade Union to the Vietnam Science and Technology Trade Union; renaming the Agricultural and Rural Development Trade Union to the Agricultural and Environmental Trade Union...
For public service units under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, from November 2024 to now, there have been reorganization, consolidation, and dissolutions, reducing from 12 units to 8 units.
For public service units established by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and assigned to the Confederations of Labor of provinces and cities for management, 13 units have been reduced and 10 more vocational training institutions are expected to be reduced.
At the conference, Vice Chairman Nguyen Xuan Hung also informed the delegates about the orientation for organizing, arranging and streamlining the trade union apparatus in the coming time, especially when implementing district-level disbursement.
Also within the framework of the conference, many delegates - representatives of trade unions in some provinces and cities - expressed their opinions and proposals on organization and personnel work. Many opinions also raised some practical problems and sent them to the conference. Thereby, the representatives of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor received, answered and clarified the conference.
