Spring train brings 500 workers' families home for Tet

The "Spring Train" program organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation brought 500 worker households with a total of nearly 1,600 people back to their hometowns to celebrate Tet.

On the afternoon of January 24, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation held a farewell ceremony for 127 families of workers working in the Ho Chi Minh City Export Processing and Industrial Zones, with a total of 449 people returning home to celebrate Tet.

This is part of the "Spring Train" program organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation to bring 500 worker households with a total of nearly 1,600 people back to their hometowns to celebrate Tet.

Mr. Pham Chi Tam - Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation - said that during this year's Tet holiday, Ho Chi Minh City labor unions at all levels donated 45,000 train, bus and plane tickets with a budget of about 26 billion VND for workers and many workers' families to return home for Tet.

Mr. Tam also wished the workers' families returning home to celebrate Tet happily and healthily, comply with legal regulations and quickly return to Ho Chi Minh City right after the Tet holiday ends.

On behalf of the workers' families, Ms. Hoang Thi Lai - a worker at Freetrend A Shoe Company, Linh Trung II Export Processing Zone, Ho Chi Minh City - said that her hometown is Quang Binh, her husband is also a worker, due to difficult conditions, her family has not had the opportunity to return home for Tet for the past 7 years.

“This year, the union organization gave free tickets for the whole family to return to their hometown to reunite with their family to celebrate Tet, which is a happiness for my family. We promise that during the happy days of Tet in our hometown, we will celebrate Tet economically, safely, comply with traffic safety order, take care of our health and will soon return to Ho Chi Minh City to work on the company's working days,” said Ms. Lai.

On this occasion, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation also gave each worker's family a gift and lucky money to the workers' children who returned home to celebrate Tet with their parents.
