From caring for life to maintaining security
It is no coincidence that an organization representing workers is honored in the field of security and order protection. With more than 210,000 union members, the Da Nang City Labor Federation is holding a very large "social force", and importantly, they have known how to turn that force into a foundation for stability.
In recent years, the approach of the City Trade Union has clearly shifted. Instead of only focusing on economic benefits, this organization proactively links caring for life with building a safe and healthy living environment.
In 2025, the Da Nang City Labor Federation spent more than 100 billion VND to care for workers; in the rain and flood period alone, more than 35.6 billion VND was promptly supported.
These figures not only carry the meaning of social security, but also create attachment and trust, which is a key factor in maintaining stable labor relations.
Mr. Le Van Dai - Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City Labor Federation said: "We determine that if we want workers to feel secure at work and not be dragged by negative factors, we must first take good care of them. When life is stable, they will actively participate in maintaining security in their workplace and residence.
In parallel with that, legal propaganda work has been promoted with nearly 400 classes, attracting about 50,000 workers to participate. The content is not only limited to labor law but also expands to crime prevention, drug prevention, and social evils.
Bringing these contents to industrial parks and boarding houses has helped workers no longer be the object of "management", but become people who understand the law and know how to protect themselves.
Models that enter workers' lives
One of the bright spots is the model "Self-managed worker group in boarding house areas" of the Da Nang City Labor Federation. From 71 initial groups, it has now developed to 73 groups throughout the city.
Without big slogans, this model operates with very ordinary things such as working together to maintain security in the boarding area, supporting each other when in difficulty, reminding each other to comply with the law.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh, a worker at a garment company in Hoa Khanh Industrial Park, shared: "In the boarding area with self-management groups, we are much more reassured. If there is anything unusual, everyone reminds each other immediately. The atmosphere is also more attached, no one feels lost anymore.
It is from that connection that many arising problems are detected early, from small conflicts in daily life to signs of legal violations. This is also a channel to help the Trade Union grasp the thoughts and aspirations of workers in a timely manner.
Along with this model, the All People's Day for National Security Protection held annually at all levels of the Trade Union has created a vibrant emulation atmosphere. Activities such as tug-of-war, karaoke, gift-giving... seem simple but are a way to bring security content into life naturally.
According to Mr. Le Van Dai, the most important thing is not how many activities are organized, but how to make workers see themselves as part of the community. "When they have attachment, they will consciously preserve their living environment," he said.
By starting from the closest things, the Da Nang Trade Union has contributed to building a solid security posture right from the grassroots level, where each worker is not only a worker, but also a person who keeps peace for their own lives.
