At about 8 am this morning, on Ba Trieu street (Hanoi City), a green tree suddenly broke a large branch, fell onto the road, and crushed a car parked close to the sidewalk. The incident happened right when people were starting to travel crowdedly, causing localized congestion for about 30 minutes.
Fortunately, the time the tree branch broke was also when the intersection of Hai Ba Trung - Ba Trieu streets had red lights, so the number of vehicles was sparse. The broken and fallen tree branch blocked almost the entire road, causing difficulties for vehicles participating in traffic.
People in the area said that before that there was light rain accompanied by light wind, which may be the cause of the rotten, weak branches breaking.
The roof of the 16-seater car was heavily damaged after the incident. At the scene, the tree branch with a large diameter, about 5-6 meters long, broke across the trunk and fell directly onto the roof of the car.
Fortunately, at the time of the incident, no one was inside the car, so there were no casualties. Mr. Nguyen Quan (in Ba Trieu street) said that the incident happened during rush hour but no one was injured.
