On the afternoon of August 29, the Kien Giang Provincial Federation of Labor and Chau Thanh District Federation of Labor coordinated with the Party Committee - People's Committee of Giuc Tuong Commune and the Red Cross Society of Mong Tho A Commune to organize the inauguration ceremony and signboard installation of the traffic bridge project.
This is also a project registered to be implemented according to the Plan of the Standing Committee of the Kien Giang Provincial Federation of Labor on launching a special emulation campaign to achieve achievements in celebration of holidays and important events of the country during the year and the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2024).
According to the Chau Thanh District Labor Federation, the project "Traffic bridge connecting Group 1 and 2 in Tan Dien Hamlet, Giuc Tuong Commune, Chau Thanh District" was surveyed and implemented by the District Labor Federation in coordination with the Party Committee - People's Committee of Giuc Tuong Commune and the Red Cross Society of Mong Tho A Commune.
The project started on April 15, 2024 and was completed on August 10, 2024. The bridge is 17m long, 3.5m wide, and the total value of the project is 170 million VND. Of which, the cost of materials is 120 million VND and 125 working days worth 50 million VND.
The project has mobilized resources from donors, union members and people, helping to save the state budget. Dozens of union members and workers participated in helping to pour columns and concrete for the project.
The completed project helps connect traffic between hamlets and hamlets in Giuc Tuong commune. Because the bridge is 3.5m wide, double the width of the old bridge, it is very safe for traffic participants.
Mr. Tran Van Cam, a local resident, said: "Local people are very happy to have a new bridge that makes traveling easier and more convenient. It's easier for us to do business, and students have less worries about going to school."
The construction of the outer bridge not only helps to expand traffic, facilitate travel and trade, but also contributes to the implementation of the district's key task in 2024, which is to strive for Giuc Tuong commune to meet advanced new rural standards and Chau Thanh district to be recognized as a new rural district by the end of 2024.
Permanent Vice President of Kien Giang Provincial Labor Federation Pham Van Dang commented: The success of this project is the result of the continuous efforts of Party committees at all levels, local authorities, the consensus of benefactors, construction units, the District Labor Federation and the enthusiastic participation of union members.
To continue promoting the achievements, Mr. Pham Van Dang suggested that Party committees and authorities at all levels continue to pay attention and create favorable conditions for trade union activities to be effectively implemented. Chau Thanh District Labor Federation actively directed grassroots trade unions to continue supporting and helping union members and workers to build more meaningful projects that bring practical benefits to union members, workers and the people.
"Hopefully, Chau Thanh District Labor Federation will promote the achievements that have been made, and union members will continue to join hands to preserve, protect and put the project into long-term effective use," Mr. Dang emphasized.
On this occasion, the District Labor Federation also mobilized donors to give 10 gifts to poor households.
