Giving livelihoods, supporting union members to overcome difficulties
At the beginning of September 2026, the Labor Federation (LDF) of Nghe An province organized many livelihood support programs for union members and workers in difficult circumstances, helping families have more conditions to develop production and improve income.
In Tan Ky commune, the Provincial Labor Federation awarded 117 million VND to support 8 workers' families to build livelihood models, including 3 goat farming models and 5 cattle farming models. Previously, on September 5, in Thai Hoa ward, the Provincial Labor Federation awarded 179 million VND to support 12 livelihood models. Among them, 11 models were supported with 15 million VND and 1 model was supported with 14 million VND.
In Yen Thanh commune, from the province's relief fund, the Nghe An Provincial Labor Federation supported 44 million VND for 3 union members and workers from near-poor households to develop the family economy. The total cost of implementing 3 models is 79.7 million VND, of which each family is supported from 14 - 15 million VND.
A noteworthy point is that the models are selected to suit the circumstances, production conditions and actual needs of each family. Mr. Phan Van Danh, a worker at MLB Tenegy Co., Ltd., chose a model of raising fish, black snails, and chickens combined with growing fruit trees. Meanwhile, Ms. Phan Thi Phuong and Ms. Vo Thi Ngoc, a worker at Maste Vina Co., Ltd., implemented a model of raising cows combined with raising meat chickens, with a scale of 1 cow and 200 chickens per household.
Representatives of Yen Thanh Commune Trade Union said that the unit has organized a working delegation to go to the families to hand over funds, visit and encourage union members. The selection of models suitable for each household's conditions is focused on to help the support source promote efficiency, creating motivation for workers to overcome difficulties.
Accompanying sustainable livelihood development
According to the Nghe An Provincial Labor Federation, in 2026, a livelihood development support program will be implemented for 34 union member households who are poor, near-poor, in particularly difficult circumstances or heavily damaged by natural disasters, with a total budget of 500 million VND from the Provincial Relief Committee. The models focus on animal husbandry, cultivation, and production recovery, suitable to the actual conditions of each family, helping workers gradually proactively develop the economy and improve their lives.
In addition to support from the provincial level, grassroots trade unions also proactively mobilize additional resources to care for union members. Typically, Thai Hoa Ward Trade Union launched the Livelihood Club, mobilizing 80 million VND to provide capital to 7 union members in difficult circumstances to develop their family economy. Philanthropists additionally supported a total amount of 12.5 million VND.
A new point in care activities is aiming to support union members in building long-term livelihoods, instead of just solving immediate difficulties. To make the models truly effective, the Trade Union organization needs to continue to accompany them after allocating funds, regularly grasp the situation, check the use of support resources, connect technical guidance and promptly remove difficulties in the production process.
Mr. Kha Van Tam - Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial Labor Federation - said that the livelihood support program aims to help union members and workers in difficult circumstances promote their internal strength, proactively develop the economy and gradually stabilize their lives.
