Scientific Conference “The Activities of the Vietnam Trade Union in a Socialist-oriented Market Economy and International Integration” was organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour and the Institute of Workers and Trade Unions under the chairmanship of Deputy Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Ngọ Duy Hiểu.
Attending the Conference were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trần Ngọc Đường – Deputy Director of the Office of the National Assembly; Dr. Bùi Sỹ Lợi – former Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly's Committee for Social Affairs, and other scientists, representatives of some Provincial and City Trade Unions, and staff members of Basic Trade Unions.
The Conference was organized to create a scholarly forum, discuss and clarify the activities of the Vietnam Trade Union in a socialist-oriented market economy and international integration.
Delegates discussed several issues: Clarify some theoretical issues about trade union activities in a socialist-oriented market economy and international integration in Vietnam; evaluate the current status of the Vietnam Trade Union's activities in the Market Economy oriented towards socialism and international integration in Vietnam; discuss and propose solutions and recommendations to innovate the activities of the Vietnam Trade Union to meet the requirements of the country's renovation in the 2024-2030 period, with a vision to 2045.
In his opening speech, Deputy Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Ngọ Duy Hiểu emphasized that the activities of the Trade Union are under the whole and absolute leadership of the Party. The participation in new-generation FTAs, the continued promotion of industrialization and modernization, the development of the market economy, and international integration will have a profound impact on the organizational model, content, and methods of operation of the Vietnam Trade Union.
The above context requires the urgent need to continue perfecting the organizational model and innovating the activities of the Vietnam Trade Union in a real and strong manner. This is also the Party's directive for the Vietnam Trade Union at the Resolution 02-NQ/TW dated June 12, 2021 of the Politburo on innovating the organization and activities of the Vietnam Trade Union in the new situation. To continue affirming the position of the Trade Union organization – the representative, care, and protection organization of workers, the Vietnam Trade Union needs to research and innovate the organizational model and operational methods to meet the requirements and tasks in the new situation.
