Nearly 3-year journey to reclaim rights
The Da Nang Trade Union Department supported 58 workers of Hoa Khanh Textile Joint Stock Company to sue the enterprise, claiming more than 3.2 billion VND in wages, social insurance and related regimes, which is clear evidence of the role of representing and protecting workers.
To achieve this result in early 2026, the Trade Union organization has persistently accompanied for nearly 3 years, through many working sessions, dialogues, dossier verification and difficult judgment enforcement processes. For workers who have lost their jobs and have precarious incomes, that companionship is a fulcrum for them not to give up halfway.
Mr. Huynh Thuyen, one of the workers who received benefits in the Hoa Khanh Textile case, said that sometimes workers thought it was difficult to claim because the case was prolonged. However, trade union officials still persistently updated information, guided procedures and accompanied them to the end.
Ms. Nguyen Ngan - who received back 35 million VND in salary and benefits - shared that without the trade union, workers would only be individual individuals, with very weak voices. Through the incident, she saw even more clearly the dedication and responsibility of the Trade Union organization.
From skepticism to firm belief
Mr. Le Van Dai - Standing Vice Chairman of Da Nang City Labor Federation - said that the final result and the words of thanks from Hoa Khanh Textile workers are the greatest motivation for the team of Da Nang City Trade Union officials.
In the early days, many brothers and sisters were still hesitant, not really trusting that the trade union could reclaim their rights. I have directly dialogued 2-3 times to listen to their thoughts. When there is a judgment and judgment enforcement is successful, brothers and sisters truly trust and continue to authorize the trade union" - Mr. Dai shared.
The success of the case is not only in the figure of more than 3.2 billion VND recovered, but also in clearly affirming the representative role of the Trade Union organization in the context that individual workers can hardly protect themselves from complex legal disputes.
Directly accompanying workers are Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Oanh - Deputy Head of the Trade Union of Industrial Parks - and Mr. Le Thanh Cong Danh, a full-time trade union official. The two officials closely follow each dossier, provide legal guidance, and help workers complete procedures and participate in legal proceedings until the case is resolved. Despite pressure, even affecting the organization's reputation, the team of trade union officials still persistently protects employees to the end.
Reality shows that protecting workers' rights not only requires enthusiasm but also requires trade union officials to understand the law, have negotiation and dialogue skills and bravery in handling increasingly complex labor disputes.
“Protecting workers' rights is not just legal advice or procedural support, but more importantly, accompanying them to the end in difficult and complex cases. When coming to the union, workers need a reliable support to protect their legitimate rights” - Mr. Le Van Dai shared.
