Workers' health is eroded
Amidst the peak of hot weather in the Central region, at the Loc Ninh 1 Social Housing Project construction site (Dong Thuan ward, Quang Tri province), the working atmosphere is still urgent but also full of hardship. From about 9:30 am, the concrete and steel surface has splashed with burning heat, making the whole area like a "pot of fire".
Under the scorching sun, dozens of workers are still working diligently. The backs of their shirts are soaked in sweat, their faces are darkened by the sun, many people have to wear masks, wear sunscreen, and continuously drink water to avoid exhaustion. The seemingly familiar labor movements also become heavier in harsh weather conditions.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Lam (35 years old, worker) shared that at this time the work becomes much more strenuous than usual. "Working in the sun is very easy to lose water, people are always dry and burning. We have to take advantage of going to work early to avoid the sun, and work later in the afternoon. Drinking water is provided fully by the company, so it is somewhat better," Mr. Lam said.

According to records, about 80-90 workers work at the Loc Ninh 1 Social Housing Project construction site every day. To adapt to bad weather, the contractor has proactively proposed many solutions to protect workers' health.

Cooling drinking water is arranged at many points on the construction site, making it easy for workers to access. Rest areas are equipped with cooling misting systems, creating temporary cooling space after stressful working hours.
"Song island" construction site avoids heat
In particular, instead of working according to the office hours, workers start from 6 am, work continuously until about 10 am, then take a break to avoid the sun, if the sun is too harsh, workers will rest earlier. Return to work in the afternoon from 2:30 pm to 6 pm, even overtime at night to ensure progress.
The "shift shift" not only helps workers reduce pressure from high temperatures but also contributes to maintaining a stable construction pace.

Mr. Tran Tien Thanh - Commander of the general contractor said that in prolonged hot weather conditions, the unit has developed many plans to ensure safety for workers. "We have changed working hours, prioritizing early work, early leave and overtime in the evening. At the same time, the supervision team regularly monitors workers' health. If signs of fatigue or heatstroke are detected, they will be dismissed immediately to ensure safety," Mr. Thanh said.

Loc Ninh 1 Social Housing Project started on December 25, 2025, invested by Tien Dat Construction Co., Ltd. and Toan Cau Construction Investment Joint Stock Company. In the context of extreme weather, maintaining construction progress poses many challenges, especially the problem of balancing work efficiency and workers' health.

Hot weather not only erodes physical strength but also poses many risks of workplace accidents if not well controlled. Therefore, proactively implementing solutions such as adjusting working hours, increasing drinking water, arranging resorts... is an urgent requirement.
