On August 13, the Ministry of Public Security coordinated with the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to organize a seminar to strengthen coordination between the Trade Union organization and the People's Public Security force in ensuring security and safety for workers.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Senior Lieutenant General Pham The Tung - Deputy Minister of Public Security; Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor chaired the seminar.
Dr. Tran Thi Thanh Ha - Deputy Head of the Labor Relations Department said that currently, the whole country has about 17 million workers and more than 8 million union members. The team of workers is present in all important economic sectors, contributing 65% of the total domestic product, more than 70% to the state budget. The country currently has nearly 7 million workers working in industrial parks and foreign enterprises.
Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Ha said that workers are always threatened by criminals, especially high-tech criminals. The recent case of fraud and property appropriation led by Pho Duc Nam, which was recently busted by Hanoi Police, is an example of a crimin with technological expertise who took advantage of it as a means to defraud and appropriate citizens' property. This case has more than 2,600 victims, many of whom are workers.
Drug criminals, black credit... are also active with many sophisticated and sophisticated tricks and target workers, especially those working in industrial parks and export processing zones across the country.
Workers are attractive subjects for crimes, especially drug crimes, "black credit" crimes... because most of the workers leave rural areas, and their understanding and awareness of the risks to them is limited.

Recognizing the security situation among workers, the important role of trade unions in ensuring security and safety for workers and the challenges they face, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has carried out many activities to ensure security and safety for workers in various forms.
From 2017 to present, the General Confederation of Labor has signed the Regulations on coordination with the Ministry of Public Security twice. In the content of the Coordination Regulations, the task of coordinating to ensure worker security is valued by both sides and given top priority. This is a clear content that shows that the General Confederation of Labor has clearly identified its role as an organization that not only represents and protects the legitimate and legal rights and interests of workers, but also contributes to ensuring worker security, helping them have a peaceful life and have all the necessary conditions to work effectively.
Trade unions at all levels promptly detect and resolve issues related to the legitimate interests of workers at the grassroots level, coordinate to review and advise on timely, decisive and stable resolution of conflicts, disputes, complaints, strikes, and work stoppages at the grassroots level, especially complicated and prolonged cases, not to become "hot spots" for security and order in industrial parks, export processing zones, and foreign-invested enterprises.
In the coming time, Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Ha said that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor determined to continue to promote the role, position and function of the Vietnam Trade Union in gathering and organizing emulation movements and the movement "All people protect national security" for workers to strive to more effectively carry out the task of ensuring worker security, in which special attention is paid to regularly coordinating with the police force to exchange information, proactively grasp the situation of thoughts and aspirations of enterprises, workers, laborers...
