Ms. Nguyen Kim Hang - a worker in Giao Long Industrial Park (Chau Thanh District, Ben Tre Province) shared that the current income of workers is only enough to meet the minimum needs. Therefore, she hopes that the government will pay attention to building quality social housing near industrial parks, with selling or renting prices suitable for workers' income so that workers can easily access it.
"Faring for rent, money for children's education, along with high living expenses... has affected the lives of workers. The family has a working couple and four children, so life is very difficult, lacking in both before and after. In that situation, even if social housing is at preferential prices, it is difficult for me to access it," said Ms. Hang.
Mr. Tien (from Lam Dong province) said that in reality, housing is still a burden for many workers, only when they have a stable place to live can they find a job, and only when they have a stable place to live can they focus on work.
"I hope the authorities will pay attention to investing in social housing for workers in industrial parks so that workers in need can access it, and the price is suitable for the income of workers," said Mr. Tien.
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters over the phone at noon on March 19, Mr. Trinh Quang Minh - Deputy Head of the Trade Union Institution Project Management Board (Vietnam General Confederation of Labor) - said that currently, the Trade Union Institution Project Management Board has worked with units and agreed on locations for connecting water supply, drainage, electricity supply and transportation to deploy investment and construction of social housing projects in Ben Tre province.
Currently, the unit is preparing a feasibility study report for the above project. At the same time, it is coordinating with the authorities of Ben Tre province to carry out land handover procedures, and it is expected that this project will start construction in October 2025.
Previously, on February 20, 2025, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor issued a Decision approving the investment policy for a social housing project in Ben Tre province.
Accordingly, the social housing project in Ben Tre province has a land use area of more than 3.3 hectares, with an investment scale of 4 7-storey apartment buildings, 2 2-storey garages, gardens, internal traffic, outdoor parking lots, sports areas and outdoor stages... The total investment of the project is more than 554.5 billion VND from the Trade Union's financial resources. The project implementation location is at the resettlement area and workers' housing to serve Giao Long industrial park (Giao Long commune, Chau Thanh district, Ben Tre province), the project implementation period is 3 years (2025-2028).
