Workers are mentally stable when in trouble
A typical example is the case of Tran Van Thanh (19 years old), a worker in the delivery department, HS Vietnam Chemical Company Limited, Soc Trang branch. He lived with his elderly grandmother. Unfortunately, Thanh had a work accident and had to pay more than 6 million VND for treatment, which is not small for workers' income. As soon as the information was received, the company's Trade Union quickly supported and mobilized union members to donate more than 12 million VND, helping Thanh pay hospital fees, promptly treat and return to work soon.
"This money helped me and my grandmother overcome the most difficult period. In addition, the Executive Board of the company's Trade Union also regularly visits and encourages me, helping me feel secure in my treatment and stabilize my psychology" - Thanh shared.
The case of union member Tran Van Binh (29 years old), a forced labor worker, also clearly shows the role of the Trade Union organization. Having a traffic accident and having to quit her job for half a month, while living alone with an income of just over 4 million VND/month, Binh fell into difficult circumstances. The Company's Trade Union supported him with 2.5 million VND.
"The amount is not large but for me it is very valuable, helping to reduce the burden during treatment" - Binh said emotionally.
The spirit of mutual love spreads strongly
Mr. Huynh Thanh Hoai - Chairman of the Trade Union of HS Vietnam Chemical Company Limited, Soc Trang branch - said that from the beginning of 2023 to now, there have been 8 difficult cases supported with a total amount of over 100 million VND.
"There were not many first calls, however, after a few calls, trust and the spirit of mutual love spread strongly. Most recently, in May, when there were traffic accidents, we raised nearly 40 million VND, said Mr. Hoai.
Mr. Hoai informed that the main cases of support are union members and workers from poor families who are struggling to make ends meet. The donation was launched urgently and completed in just 24 hours. Everyone participates completely voluntarily, depending on their ability.
"We always ask for permission from the Board of Directors before implementing activities. The Board of Directors not only agrees but also always supports in cash in most launches" - Mr. Hoai said.
Similarly, at Lac Ty II Company Limited, the company's Trade Union has also supported 163 cases of union members and relatives who passed away, with a total amount of over 1.3 billion VND. Most recently, nearly 84 million VND was raised to support the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Phuoc, a union member who recently passed away from lung cancer, leaving his elderly mother alone. In addition to the amount of money donated from workers, the Company and the Trade Union also supported an additional 6 million VND.
Speaking at the money donation ceremony for Mr. Phuoc's family, Mr. Le Cong Khanh - Vice President of the Can Tho City Labor Federation - emphasized: "We really appreciate the gesture of the Trade Union and the collective of workers of Lac Ty II Company Limited. This is a humane act, contributing to spreading the spirit of sharing among union members and workers. Trade unions at all levels will continue to accompany, care for and support in a timely manner so that union members have more support in difficult times".
Or at the Trade Union of JIA ZHI Company Limited, Soc Trang Branch, Mr. Viet and Ms. Dao, workers of the company, were unfortunately attacked by a group of subjects, resulting in serious injuries and had to be hospitalized for emergency care. The cost of treatment and recovery after the accident is very high, while the couple still have young children and unstable income.
Immediately, the Executive Committee of the Trade Union launched a fundraising campaign among all cadres, employees, and laborers to support the family with an amount of 28 million VND, helping them overcome the critical period.
