The boarding house located on Nguyen Van Troi Street, Tam Thang Industrial Park, Tam Ky City, Quang Nam is usually crowded, but during this Tet holiday, almost all the workers have returned home, leaving only a few people staying there.
Mr. Phan Quang Linh and his wife are from the North. They left their young child with their grandparents and went to Quang Nam to work. When Tet came, they saw people returning to their hometown one by one. They were very anxious, missed home, and loved their child, but had no money so they had no choice but to accept it.
“There is almost no Tet here, just going to work, working overtime from morning to night, coming home tired, then taking a rest and continuing to work the next day. Calling relatives via Zalo and Facebook, sharing the Tet atmosphere is a comfort, encouraging me to overcome homesickness,” Linh shared.
This Tet holiday, in Quang Nam province, there are 147 workers staying in boarding houses. They almost don't have Tet because their time only revolves around work, they come home to rest at night, and don't care about entertainment needs, to save as much as possible.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa - a worker at Tam Thang Industrial Park shared that after several years of struggling and looking for work in many places due to the pandemic, he finally had a stable job in Quang Nam last year and just got married.
Wanting to return home, but calculating the cost of travel and Tet, Mr. Hoa decided to stay and work extra during Tet, with a salary three times higher. After Tet, when he has saved up some money, he will return home to celebrate Tet late with his family.
"My parents know that I will stay home to work during Tet, so they told me that even if I can't come back in time for Tet, I can still come back late to celebrate Tet, as long as I can be with my family. Knowing that my family is looking forward to it, I plan to come back this January," said Mr. Hoa.
Mr. Ung Kieu Nghi, a worker at Tam Thang Industrial Park, shared that after a long year away from home to earn money, everyone looks forward to Tet to return home to reunite with family and relatives. However, for workers who do not have the conditions to return home like him and his wife, Tet is a time when it is easy to feel sad. At this time, the care and sharing of the Union is more meaningful to workers like him than ever.
