On January 30 (the second day of the Lunar New Year), a large number of tourists began traveling to Ba Ria - Vung Tau for spring travel.
According to the Department of Tourism, on the second day of Tet, the whole province welcomed about 182,089 visitors, earning more than 164.98 billion VND in revenue, an increase of 111.68% over the previous year. During the two days of Tet, the whole province welcomed 246,483 visitors, earning more than 212.7 billion VND in revenue, an increase of 88.33% over the same period.
However, instead of leading as in previous holidays, Vung Tau City only ranked 3rd among the district-level localities in the area in terms of both visitors and revenue. On the second day of Tet, Vung Tau only welcomed about 36,000 visitors, earning revenue of more than 25.3 billion VND.
Xuyen Moc district welcomed 76,967 visitors, earning over VND89.36 billion in revenue; the newly established Long Dat district (merged between Long Dien and Dat Do districts) welcomed 41,347 visitors, earning over VND37.5 billion in revenue. The fact that the two localities surpassed Vung Tau City in both the number of visitors and revenue is unprecedented.
In Vung Tau City, many accommodation establishments were fully booked on the second day of Tet, such as Ibis Styles, Mercure Vung Tau; Premier Pearl... Some establishments have not had high room occupancy rates, but the number of guests is expected to continue to increase, as the number of pre-booked rooms is almost full in the coming days.
Explaining why the number of visitors to other places is higher than Vung Tau City, many opinions from tourism service businesses said that it is possible that the Bai Sau area is under repair, so tourists and travel agencies are hesitant, so they have chosen other places to have a more complete experience during Tet.
