On July 25, the 2026 An Giang Provincial Workers, Civil Servants and Laborers Sports Festival towards the 97th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Trade Union officially opened. The Sports Festival is organized by the An Giang Provincial Labor Federation in coordination with the Provincial Department of Culture and Sports.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial Labor Federation Nguyen Nhat Tien said: in recent years, all levels of An Giang Provincial Trade Unions have always paid attention to comprehensively caring for the material and spiritual life of union members and workers (NLĐ); in which, the development of cultural, artistic, and sports movements is identified as one of the important tasks to improve health, build a united, civilized, safe and happy working environment.
This year's sports festival has a very special meaning. This is the first sports festival held after An Giang and Kien Giang provinces merged into An Giang province - a historical milestone opening up a new development space, larger scale, stronger resources and more opportunities for the development of the homeland.
The unification is not only the connection of administrative boundaries, but more importantly, the convergence of people, traditions, culture and aspirations for development. Today's workers, whether from Long Xuyen, Chau Doc, Rach Gia, Ha Tien, Phu Quoc or any other locality in the province, are all sharing the same roof - the roof of the An Giang Provincial Trade Union.
Today's sports festival is not only a place to compete, but also a bridge of connection, for officials, civil servants, public employees, and workers in localities to meet, exchange, understand each other better, and share with each other more; thereby building the spirit of solidarity and unity, together towards the goal of building An Giang province to become increasingly developed, sustainable and rich in identity.
The sports festival gathered 61 delegations, with 1,119 athletes, participating in 5 sports, including: Football, Women's Air Volleyball, Badminton, Tug of War and Basket Ball.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial Labor Federation hopes that all athletes will compete with the spirit: "Solidarity - Honesty - Nobility - Progress". Playing their best but always respecting opponents. Competing fiercely but full of comradeship. Determined to achieve high results but always putting the spirit of solidarity above all else.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, the delegations will continue to participate in the competition events of the sports festival; the football event started earlier on July 22, 2026; The remaining events will be held from July 25-26, 2026.
