The historical relic of Phu Quoc Prison (An Giang) is a testament to a period of arduous struggle of the nation. This place is a "red address" for revolutionary tradition education, arousing patriotism, national pride and gratitude to generations of ancestors who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
In July, a large number of tourists flocked to visit, many tourists not only visited but also returned to visit the place where they were once imprisoned, with comrades or relatives lying there.
Visiting Phu Quoc Prison with her family from Hue City, Ms. Tran Thi Cam Tu (child of a former prisoner) emotionally shared when listening to the interpreter talk about the forms of torture in prison.
Ms. Tu said: "My father used to be a former prisoner who was imprisoned and tortured here, so the narrators' stories made me very touched, remembering the stories my father told. When he was alive, my father wanted to return to visit this place, but due to poor health, he could not go. Now that my father has passed away, I am here to fulfill his wish and the family will also try to come here every year to visit.
Among the group of tourists visiting the relic site, Mr. Ho Thai Huy from Ho Chi Minh City shared that this is the first time he and his family have visited the Phu Quoc Prison Historical Relic. Witnessing firsthand the artifacts, images and restored models recreating the torture of revolutionary soldiers, he could not help but be moved.
“It is truly extremely touching, today's generation inheriting such a wonderful peace is an immense sacrifice of blood and bones, an incommensurable merit of our ancestors,” Mr. Huy expressed.
And Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, residing in Tan Hiep commune, An Giang province, said: "We have heard a lot about Phu Quoc Prison, but today witnessing the images of torture, emotions surged. This place is a red address for patriotism education for the younger generation to cherish more the peaceful life and live worthy of the sacrifices of our forefathers.
Ms. Le Thuy An, residing in Giong Rieng commune, An Giang province shared: "Too touched by the images, restoration models, and stories told by the narrator vividly recreating history. These are valuable lessons, practical experiences for me to absorb and when I return, I will pass them on to my students, it will be a way to inspire and spread patriotism to the younger generation".
The Phu Quoc Prison historical relic is increasingly attracting a large number of tourists, especially in July, the month of gratitude to heroes and martyrs. Groups of people come to offer incense to commemorate, visit and learn about history. In just the first 6 months of 2026, the relic site has welcomed more than 32,000 visitors, including more than 10,000 foreign visitors.
To promote the value of the "red address", the relic site has been invested in repairing, restoring and gradually digitizing artifacts. These innovations contribute to creating favorable conditions for people and tourists to visit and learn about history, meeting the needs of gratitude and learning when coming to Phu Quoc.
