Hanoi Employment Service Center said that in August 2026, in the city, workers looking for jobs mainly concentrated in the group from 35–54 years old, accounting for 47.3%.
This overwhelming rate shows that middle-aged workers currently have a very large job transfer demand, stemming from the fact that businesses are restructuring, or workers themselves want to find a more stable environment, have better welfare regimes to take care of their families, or look for opportunities to advance to management positions.
Next is the group from 25–34 years old accounting for 36.8%. This is the core, dynamic labor force, which has accumulated 3-10 years of experience and tends to switch jobs to break through income and develop personal careers.
Meanwhile, the young labor group from 15-24 years old accounts for 13.9%, mainly new graduates or young people looking for part-time/internship jobs.
The group aged 55 and over accounts for 2.1% (55–64 years old account for 2% and over 65 years old account for 0.1%). This is a group of experts, senior advisors or part-time workers to maintain dynamism.
The Hanoi Employment Service Center assesses that the labor market has a clear differentiation into two large poles: the pole of labor with university degrees or higher and the pole of labor without training.
Accordingly, job search demand is also strongly concentrated in these two groups: The group with university degrees or higher accounts for 36.2% and the group without training accounts for 28%. These two groups combined account for about 2/3 of the total supply in the market.
Leading the market is the group of workers with university degrees or higher with 36.2%, reflecting that the supply of high-quality, formally qualified labor is very abundant, ready to meet the development needs of service, technology and management industries.
Closely following is the group of untrained workers with 28.0%. The high job search rate of this group stems from the fact that jobs that do not require qualifications are often low in stability, high job turnover rates, or seasonal workers losing their jobs have to find new jobs.
In general, the job search trend of workers is focusing on two poles: either having high professional qualifications, or not having qualifications. This indicates the reality of "surplus, shortage of quality". The supply of general labor and office workers is surplus, exceeding actual demand. Conversely, the group of skilled technical workers (median/college level) and highly qualified professional workers who meet the strict standards of businesses are lacking," a representative of the Hanoi Employment Service Center said.
