On May 25, Mr. Vu Quang Thanh - Deputy Director of the Hanoi Employment Service Center said that in recent months, the Hanoi labor market has shown strong differentiation between skill groups.
In particular, in April 2026, the differentiation between skill groups is reflected in the surplus supply situation at two extremes: the group with university degrees or higher (accounting for 35.8% of the total market supply) and the group without training (accounting for 37.8% of the total market supply).
However, the market recorded a significant shortage of workers with practical technical skills such as elementary, intermediate and college level. Most businesses do not recruit highly qualified personnel (university, usually equivalent to management positions, salary over 15 million VND/month) or unskilled workers, but really need the "real-world" labor segment, with practical skills that meet the requirements of the job. The market is lacking workers with intermediate technical skills. This is the group of workers who graduated from elementary, intermediate, and vocational college level, especially in the fields of mechanical engineering, electronics, electrical equipment...", Mr. Vu Quang Thanh assessed.
A survey by the Hanoi Employment Service Center also shows that in May 2026, the inner-city labor market gradually reduced demand for unskilled labor. Conversely, to maintain export advantages in high-tech industry groups (electronics, components, electrical equipment), businesses are "thirsty" for technicians with automation operation skills, reading comprehension of production data and supply chain personnel capable of finding alternative sources of goods and risk management.
Hanoi Employment Service Center also emphasized the advantage of personnel with multi-tasking skills. Accordingly, in the context that capital businesses are having to tighten management to cope with fluctuating input costs, workers who possess multi-tasking skills, know how to apply technology tools and AI to optimize order and warehouse management processes will hold a superior competitive advantage and be prioritized for recruitment by businesses.
This sets requirements for workers to proactively upgrade their professional skills. In particular, the recruitment trend is shifting strongly to core personnel positions, prioritizing those who are flexible in handling work and proficient in modern support tools," Mr. Vu Quang Thanh added.
