Mr. Vinh said, if only the couple's savings were available, it would be very difficult to buy a house or apartment in Hanoi . It took money from my parents plus a bank loan to buy a 55m2 apartment.
By 2025, Mr. Vinh calculates, the couple will save 1.5 billion VND. To achieve the goal of buying a house, both must spend strictly. Even the 2-year-old son had to be sent to the countryside so his grandparents could take care of him and send him to school to save money.
“Renting an apartment now costs at least 5 million VND/month while renting a room costs only half. My baby depends on his grandparents to take care of him. It only costs 3 million VND to send him to school in the countryside every month. If he sent him to school here, at the very least, it would cost 6-7 million VND to hire someone, take care of him, pick him up, and give him diapers..." - Mr. Vinh analyzed
Not only that, Mr. Vinh and his wife also minimize eating out and proactively cook rice to take out for lunch. They only go out once a week for a simple outing. When their children and grandparents come to visit, they will organize meals and relax.
Mr. Vinh shared that he and his wife will try to speed up the process of buying a house because house prices in Hanoi increase day by day, the longer they wait, the higher the price increases. In the near future, the couple plans to further cut down on some unnecessary expenses. But he is still very worried, with his current income level he cannot compete with housing prices in the capital.
Mr. Vinh himself always wants to buy a house at a preferential price, especially social housing. However, according to Mr. Vinh, the current procedures are quite cumbersome and complicated. "I applied many times but Mr. Vinh was never approved" - Mr. Vinh said.
Ms. Bui Thi Lan Anh (33 years old) - living in Nam Tu Liem district, Hanoi, said that both husband and wife are having to do a lot of extra work to complete their goal of buying a house next year.
“Currently, my husband and I are living with my husband's parents. The goal of buying a house has been set for 7 years but has still not been achieved. To complete the goal of buying a house next year, both my husband and I had to work a lot of extra work, at least 12 hours a day" - Ms. Lan Anh confided.
In addition to daily office work, female employees also take advantage of online sales at night to earn extra income. Her husband always works overtime, taking on extra work and working until late at night. When these things are maintained regularly, the income of 25 million VND/month has increased to nearly 40 million VND.
House prices are increasing day by day, so in her heart, many times Lan Anh had the thought of just renting a house. When her husband dismissed her idea, Ms. Lan Anh immediately thought of buying suburban houses or social housing.
However, Ms. Lan said that suburban houses are cheaper and have a large area, so the price is relatively high, making it difficult to buy with the current finances. Social housing is not eligible because the couple's current tax declaration income is not considered low.
“I hope the State can expand the number of people eligible to buy social housing for workers with income less than 30 million VND/month. Because in Hanoi, this income level is not high after deducting essential expenses, especially when having children" - Ms. Lan Anh expressed her wish.
