The husband of Ms. Ngo Nguyen Hong Tham, a union member at Duc Tan Commune Kindergarten under the Labor Federation of Mo Duc District, Quang Ngai Province, died in an accident while working as a fisherman. For many years, she raised her two children alone and worked as a support worker, so her income was low. Besides working at school, she takes advantage of raising livestock in her garden to have an additional source of income to cover her daily life. However, life is still lacking, and houses are increasingly seriously degraded. Understanding her situation, in 2024, the Quang Ngai Provincial Labor Federation supported her family with 50 million VND to rebuild a house.
Talking to reporters, Ms. Tham confided: "With financial support to build a house, I managed to add about 250 million VND to build a house with a total cost of about 300 million VND on an area of 100m². With a new house, parents and children no longer have to worry about hot weather or leaks, and can live with peace of mind. If it weren't for the trade union's interest and support, I don't know when my family would have a new house as spacious and clean as it is now."
Mr. Nguyen Phuc Nhan - Chairman of the Labor Confederation of Quang Ngai province said that, responding to the emulation movement to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929-July 28, 2024), the Confederation of Labor Quang Ngai province has directed trade unions at all levels in the province to organize many activities and register and implement emulation work and products. At the provincial level, the Provincial Labor Federation selected the project of 30 Trade Union Shelters to be given to union members as an emulation project, with a total support budget of 1.5 billion VND. The Quang Ngai Trade Union Shelter housing program is one of the activities that takes practical care of the lives of union members, workers and labor officials; deployed and implemented since 2012.
According to Mr. Nguyen Phuc Nhan, up to now, the Provincial Labor Confederation has mobilized from socialization sources and mobilized union members, workers and employees to contribute a total amount of nearly 22 billion VND and has supported the construction newly, repairing 604 houses for difficult union members, with a total amount of over 20.7 billion VND.
