In the face of complicated drug crimes and evils, on September 9, 2025, the People's Committee of Can Tho City issued Official Letter No. 1105 to strengthen drug prevention and control in the city.
Implementing this direction, recently, the City Labor Federation (LDLD) issued a document requesting grassroots trade unions to focus on effectively implementing plans of the City People's Committee, including: Plan 117 on implementing the National Target Program on Drug Prevention and Control until 2030; Plan 119 on implementing Conclusion No. 132 of the Politburo on continuing to promote Directive 36 on drug prevention and control; Plan 18 on building drug-free communes and wards in 2025 and the following years.
One of the key tasks emphasized is to widely disseminate to cadres, union members and workers about the harmful effects of drugs and responsibility in drug prevention and control. At the same time, it mobilizes workers to boldly report drug addicts, users and drug-related acts to authorities, contributing to maintaining security and order at the facility.
Can Tho City Labor Federation also requires grassroots unions to closely coordinate with unit and enterprise leaders in internal management, tighten recruitment, strengthen inspection, supervision and strictly handle cases of violations of drug laws. Units need to proactively build commitments of "self-management and self-protection" to resolutely prevent drugs from entering agencies and businesses.
Can Tho City Labor Federation encourages timely detection and commendation of individuals and groups with achievements, initiatives or effective models in drug prevention and control, especially in demand reduction activities - supply reduction.
