My daughter has her own space to study and play
In mid-April 2025, the Cau Giay District Labor Federation (LDLD) of Hanoi held a handover ceremony of the Trade Union Shelter to Ms. Nguyen Thanh Huong, a union member of Trung Hoa Primary School. Ms. Huong is a determined person, always trying to overcome the circumstances to take care of her children and complete the assigned tasks well. But no matter how much effort she tried, she could not build a house for the mother and child because it was too difficult. For more than twenty years, she has been a single mother with two young children, one of whom has down syndrome, poor health, and often has to be treated at the hospital for a long time at an expensive cost. After the couple broke up, Ms. Huong raised 2 children and returned to her grandmother's house.
Knowing Ms. Huong's situation, over the years, the Trung Hoa Primary School Union has always cared about and created conditions to support her work, increase her income and time to take care of her family. Ms. Huong regularly receives timely encouragement from the Cau Giay District Labor Federation through holiday and Tet allowances as well as emergency allowances.
In that difficulty, Huong still has luck, that is her mother for a small part of the land.Only due to the difficult economy, the dream of a house has been a dream for a long time, until thanks to the attention of trade unions, Hanoi Labor Federation and Labor Federation of Cau Giay District to review and support the construction of trade union for her.The total amount of support is VND 50 million, of which, the City Labor Federation supports VND 40 million, Cau Giay District Labor Federation supports VND 10 million.
After the construction period, the house was completed with an area of nearly 60m2, spacious design with 2 bedrooms, 1 living room and separate kitchen area.The house is built solidly with reinforced concrete structure, brick walls, flat roofs, with cool and comfortable design.
The day she moved her things to the new house, Ms. Huong was extremely moved. "This is an extremely meaningful gift that my children and I have dreamed of for many years. I don't know what else to say other than to express my deep gratitude to the Trade Union at all levels and to my colleagues who have always cared, encouraged, and helped my mother and I. With this house, my parents and children have a solid support, my daughter has her own space to study and play. I promise to try harder at work, worthy of the affection that everyone has for my family" - Ms. Huong said.
Colleagues are an indispensable source of encouragement
Also receiving funds to repair the Trade Union Shelter this April, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nam, born in 1968, a teacher at Hoang Dieu Kindergarten (Chuong My district, Hanoi), once again received support from her colleagues. Ms. Nam's family is a family with difficult circumstances. Her husband suffered from a serious illness and passed away at the end of 2024. After the Chuong My District Labor Federation and the Hanoi City Labor Federation inspected, surveyed, and decided to support the construction and repair of the Trade Union Shelter, Ms. Nam now has a new house with a total construction and repair cost of nearly 115 million VND.
Of which, the City Labor Federation supported 30 million VND, the Chuong My District Labor Federation supported 10 million VND, the Hoang Dieu Kindergarten Trade Union supported 2 million VND, the collective of cadres, teachers, staff, and union members of the Hoang Dieu Kindergarten Trade Union supported 7 million VND, the remaining amount was borrowed from relatives in the family and her family's savings.
In the new spacious house, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nam is not only moved and grateful to the Trade Union and the school's Board of Directors, but also always remembers the sharing of her colleagues. The collective of union members of Hoang Dieu Kindergarten has accompanied and joined hands to help her family have the dream home.
For Ms. Nam, the Trade Union Shelter is not only a stable, clean and beautiful place to live, but also a place filled with affection - colleagueship, and humanity in the same school.
