On May 6, in Khanh Hoa, Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (SBIC) in coordination with HD Hyundai Vietnam Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. organized the launching ceremony of Workers' Month and Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) in 2026.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Dat - Deputy General Director of SBIC said that in 2025, the entire Corporation has implemented the OSH plan with a total value of 99 billion VND.
In the year, there were 7,465 workers trained in OSH, nearly 8,000 people had periodic health check-ups, more than 7,000 people enjoyed hazardous compensation regimes; more than 20,000 devices under strict management have been safety inspected.

However, the labor accident situation of SBIC is still worrying. In 2025, the entire Corporation recorded 89 labor accidents, including 2 fatalities and 42 seriously injured people. Total damage is about 1.9 billion VND, with 2,730 working days interrupted.
The main cause of accidents comes from workers, accounting for 85.4%, showing that the awareness of complying with safety procedures is still not guaranteed.
In 2026, with the theme "Innovating management and improving occupational safety and health in the digital age", SBIC aims to promote the application of science and technology, especially artificial intelligence, to early identify risks and prevent accidents remotely.
The 2026 OSH plan is implemented with a total budget of 191 billion VND, focusing on 9 key task groups, aiming to build a safe working environment, improve productivity and sustainable development.

As a shipbuilding enterprise with the largest number of employees in the country, more than 5,000 people (official and subcontractor), Mr. Jing Sang Ho - General Director of HD Hyundai Vietnam Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. emphasized that labor safety is not only a legal requirement but also a core factor in business development.
Recognizing the OSH results that SBIC's units have implemented in the past, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung shared that the shipbuilding industry is a field with many potential risks, so it is necessary to strongly shift to a "proactive prevention" mindset, strengthen risk control at each job position, and prevent serious accidents from occurring.

Mr. Tung also requested leaders of enterprises and grassroots trade unions to pay attention to investing in reducing dust, noise, and temperature; upgrading equipment and technology systems and strengthening health care for workers.
At the launching ceremony, 14 units signed commitments to emulate in response to the Action Month on OSH 2026.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Construction Trade Union and the Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Corporation Trade Union presented 64 gifts to support union members who suffered severe labor accidents and families of victims to encourage and support workers to overcome difficulties.
