Sports hours filled with laughter
Every afternoon after class, the training areas at Can Tho Vocational College are filled with the laughter of officials, lecturers, public employees and workers.
Teacher Cao Van Thao (lecturer at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering) said that after hours of stressful teaching and research, participating in sports activities with colleagues helps him and many union members regenerate energy and relieve pressure.
After class, being able to exchange volleyball and badminton with colleagues helps us relax and regenerate energy. The brothers and sisters in the school are also looking forward to 2 new pickleball courts to experience together" - teacher Thao shared.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Trung - Chairman of the school's grassroots trade union - informed that the unit currently has a fairly complete sports infrastructure system, including 1 volleyball court and 8 badminton courts meeting national standards.
In particular, to catch up with modern sports trends, the school is completing 2 more pickleball courts. The entire system of courts is operating flexibly, both serving the teaching of Physical Education for students, and opening during off-peak hours for union members and workers to have conditions to exercise their bodies.
Teacher Trung said that caring for the material and spiritual life of nearly 150 union members and workers is the central task of the grassroots trade union. The unit regularly coordinates with the Board of Directors to maintain sports movements, contributing to improving health, creating a competitive atmosphere and reducing work pressure for teachers.
According to Mr. Trung, the birth of 2 pickleball courts will create more choices, attracting union members of many ages to participate. Not only contributing to improving physical fitness, sports activities also become a bond connecting union members between departments and divisions.
Support for female workers
In Dong Thap, in businesses with many female workers, the model of the Pregnant Women and Child Raising Club (CLB) has become a fulcrum, contributing to taking care of the health and spiritual life of female workers.
After nearly 1 year of operation, the Club for Pregnant Women and Nursing Children at the Trade Union of Freeview Industrial Co., Ltd. (Vietnam) in Tan Huong Industrial Park (Tan Huong commune, Dong Thap province) has become a place to accompany and share with a large number of female workers, helping women gain more knowledge and skills in the process of pregnancy and raising young children.
Ms. Le Ngoc Phu Nga - Head of the Club at Freeview Industrial Company - confided: "Motherhood brings wonderful experiences, but that journey is difficult if there is a lack of knowledge. The Club is the place to help women equip themselves with the necessary skills to raise their children better.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan - Chairman of the Trade Union of Industrial Parks and Economic Zones (IPs, EZs) of Dong Thap province - affirmed that this model at enterprises with a large number of female workers is a prominent bright spot in women's work. In the coming time, the Trade Union of IPs and EZs of the province will continue to monitor, support and orient the replication of this model to many other grassroots trade unions in the area, contributing to protecting and maximizing the legitimate rights of union members and workers.
From sports fields after work to clubs for female workers, practical models are showing that the care of the Trade Union organization is not only limited to income and welfare but also towards the spiritual needs, health and cohesion of workers. Thereby, creating more motivation for union members to feel secure in working, contributing to the unit and long-term attachment to the Trade Union organization.
