Pickleball, soft volleyball connects grassroots trade union members in Son La

Trường Sơn |

From volleyball courts, badminton to pickleball after work hours, the sports movement at grassroots trade unions in Son La province is increasingly developing, contributing to improving health, spiritual life and strengthening solidarity among union members and workers.

The whole province currently has 192 grassroots trade unions with 13,964 union members. Nearly 130 grassroots trade unions maintain sports activities, with more than 30 clubs established and operating regularly. Air volleyball, badminton and pickleball are sports chosen by a large number of union members. After working hours, the sports field at the Trade Union of Yen Chau Regional General Hospital often becomes bustling. Officials and employees practice together, both improving their health and relieving work pressure.

Mr. Le Vu Hoang, a union member of the Trade Union of Yen Chau Regional General Hospital, shared that after work, everyone practices together, has more time to socialize and share. Sports activities help brothers become closer and more united.

Not only maintaining familiar sports, many grassroots trade unions also proactively invest in facilities and establish clubs to create conditions for union members to practice for a long time.

At Binh Minh International Primary - Secondary - High School, an indoor sports field is arranged for many sports such as volleyball, badminton, football field and pickleball.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Thanh, a union member of the school's grassroots trade union, said that having training space right at the unit helps officials, teachers, and employees conveniently maintain regular sports activities.

At the Son La Provincial Center for Disease Control (CDC Son La), from a single sports activity, a pickleball club has been formed and maintained regular training.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hue, Head of Son La CDC Pickleball Club, formerly union members of the Center mainly played volleyball. After having a pickleball court, the club was established in May 2025, attracting about 40 members to practice regularly after work hours.

From grassroots clubs, the movement is connected through tournaments and sports festivals organized by the trade union. This is an opportunity for union members in many units to meet, compete, exchange experiences and create a vibrant emulation atmosphere.

According to Mr. Soi Ngoc Cuong - Chairman of the Son La Provincial Labor Federation, the sports movement among union members and workers is increasingly diverse, attracting the participation of a large number of union members.

Sports activities contribute to improving the health and spiritual life of union members and workers" - Mr. Cuong informed.

In the coming time, grassroots trade unions will continue to maintain and develop clubs, encourage union members to practice regularly, and organize tournaments.
