The talks took place under the chairmanship of Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front, Central Trade Unions, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Party Secretary, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and Mr. Masaomi AKIYAMA, Chairman of the National Federation of Trade Unions of Japan (ZENROREN) - Head of the high-ranking delegation of ZENROREN.

The two sides discussed the workers' movement and trade union activities. Regarding the cooperative relationship between the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and ZENROREN, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang affirmed the similarities in core values that the two organizations are aiming for - that is for workers, for social justice, for peace and sustainable development.

At the meeting, Mr. Masaomi AKIYAMA emphasized his desire for solidarity and cooperation with trade unions of countries to carry out activities for peace, towards eliminating nuclear weapons in the world. Mr. Masaomi AKIYAMA informed about the labor shortage in Japan due to population aging. Therefore, there are more and more workers coming to Japan to work, including Vietnam. Currently, ZENROREN is proposing to increase the minimum wage.

On this occasion, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor made a number of proposals. In particular, maintaining exchanges of high-level delegations and direct exchanges, sharing practical experiences in Trade Union activities, adapting to the new labor context; continuing to support each other in international forums. Strengthen coordination to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese workers in Japan, especially contract workers and trainees... Continue to encourage the trade unions of the two countries to establish and expand direct cooperation.
The President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor also said that recently, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan has proposed that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor support the connection of the Embassy with Japanese trade unions - including ZENROREN - to strengthen coordination and information sharing to serve the community work of the Embassy, especially protecting the rights of Vietnamese workers working in Japan under contracts.
