Tens of billions of dong to take care of workers
Mr. Mai Thanh Phuong - Chairman of Vietnam Railway Trade Union - said that Vietnam Railway Trade Union organized Tet Sum vay - Xuan chia chia 2024 at stations, in remote areas, places with difficult transportation; gave gift bags, supported train tickets for workers in difficult circumstances to return home for Tet. The total amount spent on activities of care, visit, subsidy, and social charity activities in the whole industry was 18.72 billion VND, of which the source of funds from trade unions at all levels was 5.3 billion VND.
Implementing the Program "Trade Union Train - Spring 2024" of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Vietnam Railway Trade Union coordinated with 7 Labor Confederations of provinces and cities in the South to bring 1,300 union members, workers in difficult circumstances and their relatives who wanted to return to their hometowns to celebrate Tet and return to work; participating in the Program "Trade Union Tet Market" organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
In Workers' Month 2024, at the Industry level, 10 working delegations were organized, including representatives of the Party Committee, the Board of Members, the Board of Directors and the leaders of the Vietnam Railway Trade Union, to visit, encourage and support equipment to improve working and living conditions for workers working in the Hai Van Pass, Khe Net Pass, Ca Pass, Bac Thuy Slope, remote areas; support and give gifts to workers in difficult circumstances, with children with disabilities or serious illnesses; visit and encourage workers to overcome difficulties and resolve railway traffic incidents.
At all levels, the trade union coordinated with the professional sector to visit, give gifts, encourage and support workers in difficult circumstances; provide equipment to improve working and living conditions for workers, etc., organize 95 cultural and sports activities with the participation of 338 units and departments with 3,806 participants, the total cost for the activities was 10,776 billion VND...
Innovation and streamlining of the Union organization system
Speaking at the conference, the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor assessed that the Vietnam Railway Trade Union had coordinated professionally to ensure good policies, contributing to increasing income and improving working conditions for workers. Maintaining and implementing democratic regulations at the grassroots level.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang suggested that the Vietnam Railway Trade Union continue to review and effectively implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, Resolution 02-NQ/TW of the Politburo on innovation of organization and operation of Vietnam Trade Union in the new situation; Resolution of the 13th National Congress of Vietnam Trade Union, Resolution of the 14th National Congress of Vietnam Railway Trade Union...
The President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor also requested the Vietnam Railway Trade Union to continue to innovate and streamline the organization and apparatus of the Trade Union to operate effectively and efficiently in accordance with the spirit of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW of the 12th Party Central Committee and the direction of the Central Committee.
“Organizing a streamlined apparatus must be associated with building a team of quality union officials and assigning employees to suitable positions. At the same time, the Union needs to pay attention to coordinating propaganda and mobilization to contribute to creating consensus among the staff, union members, and employees, promoting implementation in agencies and units,” Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang stated.
Along with that, the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor emphasized: "The time until Lunar New Year 2025 is not far away, in addition to regular tasks, Vietnam Railway Trade Unions at all levels need to pay attention to organizing well Tet care activities. There are solutions, forms of care, support, encouragement, and timely sharing so that all workers can have Tet and enjoy Tet."
At the conference, Mr. Mai Thanh Phuong - Chairman of Vietnam Railways Trade Union was honored to receive the Second Class Labor Medal and Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister; 3 individuals received the medal for the cause of building the Trade Union organization.
