On the afternoon of December 23, a conference was held to review the 2023-2024 Work Coordination Program between the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the National Assembly's Social Committee.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang, member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Ms. Nguyen Thuy Anh, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Chairwoman of the National Assembly's Social Committee chaired the conference.
In 2023 and 2024, the two sides have paid attention, supported and coordinated closely and responsibly, contributing to the successful completion of the functions and tasks of each agency. Coordination activities ensure substance and effectiveness in the spirit of impartiality, science and objectivity towards building and perfecting the legal system on labor, trade unions and social security.
In particular, the coordination in completing the Trade Union Law (amended) to submit to the National Assembly for consideration and approval at the 8th Session is an important highlight in the coordination activities of the two agencies in 2023 and 2024.
In addition, in 2023 and 2024, the Social Committee will be the agency in charge of reviewing many draft laws related to workers and trade unions, such as the Law on Social Insurance (amended), the Law on Employment (amended), and the Law on amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Health Insurance. These are draft laws of great significance in the field of social security, directly affecting the rights and obligations of millions of workers.
In its role as representative and protector of the legitimate rights and interests of workers, the General Confederation has actively coordinated with the Social Committee to participate in the development of draft laws through research and written comments; participating in workshops, conferences to collect opinions, review conferences, technical sessions organized by the Social Committee...
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang, member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, assessed that the coordination program between the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Social Committee over the past two years has achieved very good results, leaving deep impressions.
Regarding coordination activities, it is to focus on building and completing important Law projects in the field of social security such as: Law on Medical Examination and Treatment, Law on Social Insurance, Law on amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Health Insurance, Law on Employment, especially the Law on Trade Unions (amended) with the General Confederation of Labor as the drafting agency and the Social Committee as the reviewing agency.
With the strong direction and efforts of the staff departments, the smooth coordination between the two agencies has been carried out regularly and effectively.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang said that at this time, the Trade Union Law (amended) has been issued, creating a new legal basis for the Trade Union organization to perform its functions and tasks well, enhance its position, affirm its role and operational efficiency in the socialist-oriented market mechanism and increasingly deep international integration.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang emphasized that after 2 years of implementation, it can be affirmed that this is one of the practical and effective coordination programs, evaluated and measured by specific results.
Ms. Nguyen Thuy Anh, member of the Party Central Committee and Chairwoman of the National Assembly's Social Affairs Committee, assessed that the implementation of the coordination regulations between the two sides in the past time has been very effective, substantive, public and transparent. In the process of implementing coordination activities, the two sides always consult and listen to each other's opinions.
The Chairwoman of the Social Affairs Committee congratulated the National Assembly on the Law on Trade Unions (amended), creating a new legal corridor for trade unions. Ms. Nguyen Thuy Anh expressed her hope that the two sides would continue to implement the coordination regulations well in the coming time.
On this occasion, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor awarded the "For the cause of building trade union organizations" medal to 11 individuals from the Social Committee and the National Assembly Office.
