The National Assembly voted to pass the Trade Union Law (amended)

Bảo Hân |

This morning (November 27), the National Assembly is expected to vote to pass the Trade Union Law (amended).

Previously, on October 24, National Assembly deputies discussed this bill in the hall.

Delegates participated and contributed opinions on various issues. Most opinions supported the continued maintenance of the 2% union fee; supported the addition of the right to join a union for foreign workers in the draft law; supported the addition of regulations on exemption, reduction, and suspension of union fee payments, etc.

Regarding the 2% union budget, many delegates said that the actual organization and operation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor over many terms showed that union budget revenue, along with other sources, is a very important basis for organizing union activities and building strong enough resources to perform the functions and tasks of the union.

In the current context of limited State resources and to take care of, inherit and effectively implement current laws as well as ensure long-term commitment of employees to enterprises and especially the activities of trade unions, collecting 2% of trade union fees is reasonable and ensures sustainable trade union activities.

Regarding regulations on exemption, reduction, and suspension of trade union fee payment, National Assembly delegates proposed that they should study and supplement them to make them stricter and facilitate the implementation of the promulgated law...

Receiving the opinions of delegates at the discussion session, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang, member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, emphasized that the amendment of the Trade Union Law must ensure the thorough understanding and institutionalization of the Party's innovative viewpoints and guidelines related to national construction and development, in accordance with the 2013 Constitution, ensuring the unity and synchronization of the current legal system, ensuring the absolute and comprehensive leadership of the Party over the Trade Union organization.

The amendment of the Trade Union Law must ensure that the Vietnam Trade Union - a large political and social organization of the working class and laborers - grows stronger, operates effectively, and attracts a large number of laborers to participate; inherits and maintains the contents that have affirmed their reasonableness, stability, and effectiveness in the past implementation process.

In addition, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang added that the law amendment has consulted and absorbed international experiences to ensure conformity with the political system, development requirements of the socialist-oriented market economy and international integration under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Also on November 27, the National Assembly will vote to pass the Law on People's Air Defense; vote to pass the National Assembly's Resolution on investment policy for the National Target Program on Cultural Development for the 2025-2035 period; discuss in the hall the draft Law on Employment (amended); vote to pass the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Health Insurance...
