Proactively creating a "shield" from the grassroots level
Hai Phong City currently has more than 1 million workers working in about 54,000 units and businesses, of which industrial parks and concentrated economic zones alone have about 360,000 people. With a large workforce, the city is facing an urgent requirement to proactively prevent and stop drug evils, protect the health, life and safe working environment for workers. This is not only the task of functional agencies but also the common responsibility of businesses, trade union organizations and the whole society.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Viet - Chairman of the Trade Union of Yazaki Hai Phong Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Japan Industrial Park - Hai Phong) - said that to prevent drugs from entering the lives of workers, the company's trade union includes propaganda on drug prevention and control in the periodic activities of each production team. At the same time, coordinate with the Board of Directors to build a "drug-free enterprise" model, associated with safety and occupational hygiene criteria.
The company's trade union also coordinates with local authorities and police in areas with a large number of workers renting rooms to promptly grasp the situation and provide support when detecting unusual signs and risks of enticement in cyberspace. In addition, the unit builds a channel to receive and advise at the grassroots trade union so that union members and workers have a place to share and receive support when facing difficulties.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy - AB Plus Logistics Joint Stock Company, propaganda and dissemination of knowledge about drug prevention and control need to be promoted, carried out regularly and daily to promptly inform union members and workers, associated with real-life situations at workplaces, boarding houses, in the lives of colleagues and families. Thereby, helping workers raise awareness, equip themselves with necessary skills, identify tricks and risks related to drugs and proactively protect themselves and their families, contributing to building a safe and healthy working environment.
Diversifying propaganda channels to workers
Along with the campaign launched by the Ministry of Public Security and the VGCL, Hai Phong is implementing the Resolution to build Hai Phong into a drug-free city associated with the task of ensuring security and order, building a safe and healthy living environment, serving socio-economic development and improving the quality of life of the people. By August 2026, Hai Phong had 41/114 communes, wards, and special zones meeting the "drug-free" criteria; the goal by the end of 2026 is to have 21 more commune-level units "drug-free".
Recently, the city officially launched the online contest "Understanding the law on drug prevention and control in Hai Phong City" from September 20 to October 20, 2026 to raise awareness of law compliance for officials, civil servants, public employees, workers, students and people in the area on drug prevention and control. Previously, models "Non-drug industrial parks", "Non-drug businesses", "Non-drug boarding houses"... have also been actively implemented by units.
On the side of the Trade Union organization, the City Labor Federation has been and is implementing the model of civilized and safe boarding houses, directing trade union levels to diversify forms of propaganda, proactively prevent drugs from before drugs invade workers' lives; creating an environment for workers to live healthy, happily, and actively, not abandoning wrongdoers. From there, towards the goal that each union member and employee is a propagandist, each trade union group will become a preventive point, and each grassroots trade union will become a "shield" to protect employees from the danger of drugs.
