The delegation of the FES Institute was led by Ms. Sabine Fandrych, General Secretary of the Central FES Institute.
At the reception, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang welcomed members of the delegation to visit and work with the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; congratulated the 100th anniversary of its establishment and the 35th achievements of the FES Institute in Vietnam.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang informed the delegation about the formation and development process and recent activities of the Vietnam Trade Union.

Accordingly, in recent times, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has actively and proactively participated in giving opinions on the development of policies and laws directly related to the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers. The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has a representative member in the National Wage Council to propose increasing the regional minimum wage for workers. In recent years, the average regional minimum wage has increased by 6%/year.
In addition, trade unions at all levels focus on dialogue, negotiation, and the development of collective labor agreements, contributing to reducing labor disputes, bringing more benefits to workers, etc.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang also mentioned the key tasks of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in the coming time: Focus on developing union members and establishing grassroots unions, accordingly, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor sets a target of having 15 million union members by 2028; focus on dialogue and collective bargaining to improve the quality of collective labor agreements; focus on training staff, especially grassroots union chairmen.
The Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor highly appreciated the activities of the FES Institute for Vietnam, especially the support of the Institute for the Vietnam Trade Union organization. The support of the FES Institute has contributed significantly to the achievements of the Vietnamese Trade Union in recent years, especially the legal advice, legal support of the Trade Union organization; building a team of experts and lecturers on collective labor agreements; Supporting Vietnam Trade Union effectively participating in the National Action Plan on Green Growth ...

Ms. Sabine Fandrych, General Secretary of the Central FES Institute, was impressed by the formation and development process of the Vietnam Trade Union, congratulated the achievements of the Vietnam Trade Union, especially in developing union members, dialogue, negotiating collective labor agreements, etc.
Ms. Sabine Fandrych promised to maintain the Institute's support for the Vietnam Trade Union, focusing on dialogue, negotiation, and building collective agreements to contribute to improving the income and working conditions of workers; supporting the Vietnam Trade Union to participate in the National Action Plan on Green Growth; and training union officials in the coming time.
The FES Institute was established in 1925, and has been operating in Vietnam since 1990. This is one of the first international organizations to appear in Vietnam after Doi Moi. The FES Office in Hanoi focuses on key areas, such as: Strengthening the capacity of trade union organizations; promoting policy dialogue, legal reform and sustainable development; promoting equality and social justice; supporting the building of a rule of law state and good governance; encouraging the role of young people in politics and society. In 2025, the FES Office in Vietnam will celebrate its 35th anniversary.
