240 workplace accidents in 2025
Da Nang enters Workers' Month and Action Month on occupational safety and health in 2026 in the context of a strong labor market recovery, increasing orders but also greater production pressure, especially labor accidents.
According to data from the Da Nang City Department of Home Affairs, in 2025, the whole city recorded 240 labor accidents, causing 252 victims, including 10 deaths and 38 seriously injured people.
It is noteworthy that out of 240 labor accidents, 68 originated from the fault of employers and 147 were due to workers violating procedures, along with many other causes such as lack of training, unqualified equipment, and substandard working conditions.
These figures reflect a worrying issue that labor safety has not really become a "habit" in production. In some businesses, the development of procedures, protective equipment or safety training is still superficial. On the contrary, a part of workers is still subjective and does not fully comply with regulations.
More worryingly, the informal sector – which is difficult to control – still recorded serious accidents, with 13 deaths and 76 injuries. This shows that the gap in management and protection of workers in the informal sector is still very large.
That is the reason why this year's Action Month for Occupational Safety and Health of Da Nang city is themed "Innovating management and improving the efficiency of occupational safety and health in the digital age".
Da Nang City determines to implement practical activities, strongly focusing on grassroots levels, focusing on directly solving issues that workers are concerned about.
Businesses are required to improve working conditions, control risks, and ensure safety in production; functional agencies strengthen inspection and strictly handle violations of OSH.
Do not let the consequences occur before fixing them.
Speaking to direct at the launching ceremony of the Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health and Workers' Month 2026 organized by the Da Nang City Labor Federation in coordination with the Department of Home Affairs on April 24, Mr. Tran Anh Tuan - Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee, emphasized the consistent requirement to put occupational safety first, considering this as a prerequisite for sustainable development.
Accordingly, city leaders requested levels, sectors, and businesses to innovate propaganda work in a substantive direction; thoroughly overcome existing problems, especially the causes leading to serious labor accidents; thoroughly handle violations of working conditions and insurance for workers.
Businesses must not put profit above the lives and health of workers; must ensure sufficient protective equipment and safe working conditions. At the same time, workers need to raise awareness of self-protection and comply with production processes" - the leader of Da Nang emphasized.
In addition, inspection and examination work will be strengthened with the viewpoint of "prevention is the main thing", promptly detecting and handling violations, not letting consequences occur and then overcoming them.
Da Nang is moving towards a sustainable and modern development model, with high value-added industries. In that context, the requirements for labor standards, including safety, are increasingly strict, not only from management agencies but also from international partners and the market.
However, for the city leaders' requirements to become substantive, the most important thing is still to build a "safe culture" in businesses.
That culture is not only in warning signs or periodic training sessions, but must become a part of the daily behavior of both managers and employees.
When employers consider safety as the number one priority, they will invest properly in equipment, processes and people. When employees understand that complying with regulations is protecting themselves, they will not take lightly the seemingly smallest details.
