Maintaining peace in workers' housing areas
Recently, the Lien Chieu Ward Trade Union, Da Nang City held a conference to announce the decision to establish 2 new "Self-managed Workers' Groups" (Self-managed Groups) at the Social Housing Apartment Complex, Hoa Khanh Industrial Park.
Speaking at the conference, Chairman of the Lien Chieu Ward Trade Union Le Trong Nguyen emphasized: the establishment of Self-management Groups is not only a channel to grasp the thoughts, aspirations, lives and jobs of workers, but also an effective solution to help local authorities maintain security and order, build a clean and beautiful, civilized living environment.

On this occasion, the City Labor Federation (LDLD) also presented 2 mobile cars to the Executive Board of the team to have a place to live and presented 04 gifts to workers in difficulty - a practical gesture demonstrating the caring spirit of the Trade Union organization.
This is the 30th and 31st groups in the ward - a number that shows the strong influence of the Self-management Group model that Da Nang has worked hard to build over the past 15 years.
Since the first model was established in 2010, up to now, the whole city of Da Nang has had more than 70 Self-management teams, concentrated in Cam Le, Lien Chieu and Son Tra wards - places with a large number of workers working in industrial parks. Each team is an extension of the Trade Union organization, a bridge between workers and the government, police and landlords.
The effectiveness of the model is even more evident when Self-management Teams become the core force in detecting, denouncing and preventing crimes. In Cam Le ward, the ward police assessed that the self-management groups had promptly reported violations many times, helping the authorities handle situations early and maintain order in residential areas.
Every quarter, the police coordinate with the Trade Union to organize at least 1-2 propaganda sessions on crimes, drugs, traffic safety, fire prevention and fighting, helping workers raise awareness of self-defense and the community.
Becoming a large-scale social movement
According to statistics from the Da Nang City Labor Federation, over the past 15 years, the Da Nang City Labor Federation has organized more than 500 sessions to disseminate laws and policies, attracting over 50,000 workers to participate in self-management groups.
The content ranges from the Labor Code, Social Insurance, Trade Union Law, Traffic Law, to preventing social evils and protecting network security. In addition, the Trade Union also mobilizes workers to be vigilant against false arguments and sabotage by hostile forces; arousing the spirit of solidarity and helping each other in daily life.

Mr. Le Van Dai, Permanent Vice President of the Da Nang City Labor Federation, said: The self-managed Workers' Group model not only contributes to ensuring security and order but also becomes a large-scale social movement, associated with activities such as "Eliminating hunger and reducing poverty", " use gratitude", "Safe boarding house - no crime, no social evils".
Boarding house owners, workers and trade unions join hands to build green, clean and safe boarding houses - truly the "second home" for workers far from home.
In addition, together with landlords responding to the model "Rental houses without crimes and social evils" launched by the police of wards and communes, each boarding house has set up internal regulations and regulations on residence, regularly reminding each other to raise the vigilance spirit of "Self-management, self-defense, self-protection", actively participating in denouncing crimes, preventing and combating social evils.
The success of the model of "Self-managed workers' group in boarding houses" in Da Nang shows the humane and creative approach of the Trade Union organization: not only caring for material rights, but also protecting the safety, peace of mind and dignity of workers.
And it is the self-management groups like in Lien Chieu ward today that are continuing to replicate that model - so that each boarding house, each worker apartment is a connected, affectionate and peaceful community.
