Not "aperceiving" employers
Ms. Tran Mai Hoa graduated from a college in Hanoi with a major in multimedia communication. After that, Ms. Mai Hoa studied at the university majoring in journalism. During her internship at a university, Ms. Mai Hoa was an intern at a press agency in Hanoi.
In July 2024, after graduating from university, Ms. Mai Hoa spread her CV to apply for jobs in many press agencies and applied for media positions for a number of businesses and corporations in Hanoi. In the CV, this candidate "brutally" stated: "I have experience/time working at a newspaper...". Although friends advised her to remove this information line, Mai Hoa still did not listen.
After distributing her application, Ms. Mai Hoa did not receive a response from any press agency but was called to interview by 3 businesses.
All three companies did not hire me after I took the interview. When they asked about the time I worked at a press agency according to the statement in the CV and asked me clearly where I worked, what products corresponded to that time... I was really confused. After that, I discussed the internship time. The employer showed clear disappointment. This lesson is too expensive for me, Mai Hoa recalled.

Not having the same experience as Ms. Mai Hoa, Mr. Doan Ngoc Hung also had to "pay the price" for not having a genuine and serious CV.
Mr. Hung graduated from an auto repair major at a college in Cau Giay ward (Hanoi). When applying to work as a sales staff for an auto company, Mr. Hung asked AI to write a job application based on the basic information he provided.
I was very satisfied with the CV created by AI, seeing it as smooth and eye-catching, I took it to submit to the automaker. However, at the scheduled interview, I was not able to answer any questions other than a lecture by a staff member about being sluggish and somewhat disregarding the employer when using AI to write a job interview, said Mr. Hung.
Enhancing honesty
Mr. Hoang Duc Nghiem - head of human resources at a retail group in Hanoi said that candidates sometimes pay attention and care about their CVs without understanding that beautiful CVs only account for a small part, the rest depends on the interview with the employer.
Most employers are interested in practical skills, openness to the profession and responsibility for the job of candidates. We also highly appreciate candidates with clear career goals, not having to go to work to avoid being called unemployed or standing on this mountain looking at the mountain. The excellent candidate will always work enthusiastically, have great ambitions about income as well as positions during the work process," said Mr. Nghiem.
Ms. Bach Lan Anh, head of human resources at a media company in Cua Nam ward (Hanoi) said that many candidates passed the recruitment exam thanks to their smooth CVs, even "reporting" some skills and experiences to employers. However, the actual working process later denounced this fraud.
"There are cases where we do not need to let workers quit, but just need to arrange work for them according to their abilities and strengths. Those who are dishonest will not be able to take on the assigned work and withdraw, Ms. Lan Anh shared.
According to Ms. Lan Anh, any employer values the honesty of candidates. Those who over discounce their abilities and experiences, or will be eliminated from the interview, or will quit their jobs after being hired because they cannot take on the job. "Not to mention, the recruitment market in equivalent job fields is not too large, cross-checking information is not too difficult for us, so the scammers will soon be revealed," Ms. Lan Anh affirmed.
