On the morning of August 4, at the headquarters of Lao Dong Newspaper in Hanoi, a professional and nghiệp vụ exchange took place between Lao Dong Newspaper - Heng Ngan Newspaper and the Public Information Department (Central Confederation of Laos Trade Unions), with a focus on developing digital journalism, operating social network platforms and applying artificial intelligence (AI) in journalistic activities.
At the working session, the two sides shared experiences in building content on YouTube and TikTok platforms; producing short videos; methods of attracting readers, increasing interaction on digital platforms, and exchanged views on the application of AI in trend finding, topic building, converting sound into text, supporting interview tape removal, spell checking and AI labeling for journalistic products.
Representative of Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Van Thang - Head of Cinema Department of Lao Dong Newspaper - said that YouTube and TikTok are currently two platforms with rapid growth with a large number of users. To build an effective channel, press agencies need to focus on a unified brand identity, from logos, colors to cover images to help readers easily recognize and search.

Mr. Thang said that TikTok in Laos is still in the development stage, this is a favorable time to invest in building a channel, creating a competitive advantage when the market is not saturated. To achieve efficiency, units need to build a methodical production process, apply technology to shorten processing time but still increase video output.
Representative of the Public Information Department - Central Committee of the Lao Trade Union Federation, Mr. Soukthavone HOTTHAVONGSA - Head of the Radio and Television Department (Central Committee of the Lao Trade Union Federation), expressed his gratitude for practical sharing from Lao Dong Newspaper.

He said that the Trade Union press in Laos has its own characteristics, the scope of content is still limited, human resources are thin, and the assignment according to each professional field has not been organized methodically like many other press agencies.
Answering this question, Mr. Nguyen Van Thang said that to operate digital platforms effectively, there needs to be coordination between many departments such as SEO, reporters, editors and content production teams. For Lao Dong Newspaper, the Multimedia Communication Center is the unit in charge of video platforms such as YouTube and TikTok.
In addition to arranging reasonable personnel, AI is becoming a powerful support tool in social network management and operation. If they master technology and processes, press agencies can improve content production efficiency without increasing too much human resources.
