New tropical depression appears in the East Sea, gusting to level 8

This afternoon (August 4), the low pressure area in the southeast sea area of the Northern East Sea has strengthened into a tropical depression.

Updated from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 13:00, the center of the tropical depression was located at about 17 degrees North latitude - 119.7 degrees East longitude, over the sea southeast of the Northern East Sea area. The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression is strong at level 6 (39-49 km/h), gusting at level 8. The tropical depression is moving in the Northwest direction at a speed of 5-10 km/h.

Forecast for the next 12 hours, the tropical depression will move slowly in the East direction. By 1:00 AM on August 5th, the center of the tropical depression will be located at about 16.9 degrees North latitude - 120 degrees East longitude; over the sea area southeast of the Northern East Sea area. Wind intensity is strong at level 6, gusting at level 8.

The dangerous area is located between 16 and 18 degrees North latitude; east of 119 degrees East longitude. The disaster risk level is level 3 for the sea area southeast of the Northern East Sea region.

Forecast for the next 24 hours, the tropical depression will move in a Southeast-east direction, at a speed of about 10 km/h and gradually weaken into a low pressure area.

By 13:00 on August 5, the center of the low pressure area was located at about 16.7 degrees North latitude - 121 degrees East longitude, over the area north of Luzon Island (Philippines). Wind intensity weakened below level 6.

Regarding the impact of the tropical depression, in the afternoon and night of August 4, the sea area southeast of the Northern East Sea area has strong winds of level 6, gusts of level 8; sea waves are 2-3m high, rough seas. It is forecast that the tropical depression will not affect the coastal and mainland areas of Vietnam.

Ships operating in the above-mentioned dangerous areas are likely to be affected by thunderstorms, tornadoes, strong winds, and large waves.
