In the 2020-2025 term, Lao Dong Newspaper has overcome many difficulties and major challenges. The COVID-19 pandemic is prolonged, the economy is in decline, traditional journalism models are under strong pressure from social networks and information competition.
However, with the spirit of solidarity, innovation, and strong political will, Lao Dong Newspaper not only stands firm but also has made remarkable and comprehensive progress in both professional work and Party building work.
Lao Dong Newspaper affirms its position as the main press agency of the Trade Union organization, maintaining its stated purpose, closely following the political orientation, promptly and vividly reflecting the lives of workers, especially during the pandemic, natural disasters, and difficulties.
The newspaper won 222 press awards, including 140 domestic and 82 international awards; 17 National Press Awards; was awarded the Emulation Flag of the Prime Minister (2023), First Class Labor Medal (2024).
Newsletters increased sharply in both quantity and quality of content. Print newspapers remain effective; Electronic newspapers grow in 252% of visits, developing many new platforms, especially the English version using AI Translation, built by the Newspaper's IT staff to save tens of billions of VND in budget.
The Lao Dong Newspaper Party Committee has completed its tasks excellently for 5 consecutive years, and has been awarded Certificates of Merit by the Party Committee of the Bloc 3 times. Admitted 35 new party members, reaching 233% of the target. 100% of Party cells maintain disciplined activities, 100% of Party members study the resolution, commit to maintaining and strictly implementing the Party's regulations. Speaking at the congress, on behalf of the Party Committee and the Standing Committee of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Comrade Nguyen Dinh Khang acknowledged and warmly commended the achievements of the Lao Dong Newspaper Party Committee over the past 5 years.
Chairman Nguyen Dinh Khang also suggested that the Executive Committee and the Standing Committee of the Lao Dong Newspaper Party Committee should seriously consider and find solutions to immediately overcome the limitations and weaknesses mentioned in the Political Report, such as: The quality of life in affiliated Party cells is still not uniform; the team of reporters is not qualified enough to carry out the communication of resolutions and directives of the upper-level Party Committee to Party members scattered in the regions...
Chairman Nguyen Dinh Khang commented that entering the 2025-2030 term, Lao Dong Newspaper faces both opportunities and challenges. The fourth industrial revolution, especially artificial intelligence (AI), Big Data, cross-platform communication... is fundamentally changing the way journalism is done.
And to maintain and affirm the leading role of the newspaper in protecting workers, the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor suggested that the Lao Dong Newspaper Party Committee focus on directing and organizing the implementation of 8 key contents.
In particular, continue to pay attention to building a clean and strong Party Committee in all aspects. Maintain political courage, improve the capacity and quality of activities of the Party organization. Promote the comprehensive leadership role of the Party Committee in all areas of the agency's work. Enhance the fighting spirit of grassroots party organizations, promote the exemplary role of party members, especially leaders.
Improve the quality of Party cell activities, thematic activities associated with specific political tasks. Pay attention to training and admitting party members who are capable, ethical, and enthusiastic young reporters and editors. Improve the effectiveness of internal inspection and supervision to proactively prevent and detect violations early to promptly rectify.
Continue to improve the streamlined and efficient organization of the apparatus; improve the quality of key staff to meet the requirements of tasks in the new period. There is a mechanism to protect and encourage cadres who dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility.
Focus on leadership to build Lao Dong Newspaper as a modern, multi-platform digital press agency with widespread social influence. Continue to invest in upgrading technology infrastructure, perfecting digital platforms, and technological autonomy in all stages of press production. Develop a specialized online TV channel for the Trade Union; strongly exploit AI to improve performance, control quality, diversify press products... to spread the activities of the Vietnam Trade Union to international friends...
The Lao Dong Newspaper Party Committee is a grassroots party committee under the Party Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. Currently, the Party Committee has 7 subordinate Party cells, including 4 Party cells in Hanoi and 03 Party cells at regional offices.
As of June 28, 2025, the Lao Dong Newspaper Party Committee has 104 Party members, including 97 official Party members and 7 reserve Party members. The Executive Committee of the Lao Dong Newspaper Party Committee has 9 comrades; the Standing Committee consists of 3 comrades; 1 comrade member of the Standing Committee is the Chairman of the Inspection Committee.
The average age of party members in the Party Committee is 46 years old. In terms of expertise, 98% of Party members have a university degree or higher. In political theory, 8 comrades have advanced degrees, 27 comrades have intermediate degrees. Although Party members are distributed in many localities across the country, they are still arranged to ensure monthly activities in accordance with the Party's Charter.
