The case of workers forced to stop work due to delayed wages for 4 consecutive months occurred at Hoang Sinh Import-Export Joint Stock Company (wooden furniture manufacturing company in Thu Dau Mot city, Binh Duong province).
On the evening of July 31, hundreds of workers came to the company's campus to wait for a clear answer about salary payments to workers. Until 9:00 p.m. the same day, the interdisciplinary team was still working with the company's representative on paying wages to workers. According to records, the company's legal representative was not present to resolve the case, only members of the board of directors stood to resolve and discuss with the authorities and employees .
The authorities have worked with this business to discuss finding financial sources and payment plans for workers.
Ms. Nguyen Hoang Bao Tran - Standing Vice President of the Labor Confederation of Binh Duong province was also directly present to resolve the case and protect the rights of workers.
After talking with the business representative, Ms. Nguyen Hoang Bao Tran talked back to the workers: Next Friday the company will find a source of money (from tax refunds, about 23 billion VND) to pay a wages for employees.
According to Ms. Nguyen Hoang Bao Tran, this company's situation is facing difficulties, the business is also finding every way and every source of money to pay workers. The union will work with the authorities to monitor the source of 23 billion VND from businesses' tax refunds to pay workers.
"The union also continues to monitor to protect the rights of workers" - said Ms. Nguyen Hoang Bao Tran.
Unions support workers
After Lao Dong Newspaper published an article reflecting on the incident , the leaders of Thu Dau Mot City People's Committee had an exchange with reporters to get more information about the difficulties workers were having to support. Local authorities have lobbied motel owners to share and not evict workers from the motel.
Binh Duong Province's Trade Union has strongly mobilized sponsors to obtain some necessities to provide immediate support for workers. Ms. Nguyen Hoang Bao Tran said that on the morning of August 1, the Union will give immediate support to workers of 500,000 VND each.
The company owes salaries for 4 months
Previously, workers reported to Lao Dong Newspaper that Hoang Sinh Import-Export Joint Stock Company had delayed workers' salaries from April 2024 until now. In addition, the company still owes prolonged social insurance payments. This causes workers to face many difficulties.
According to records, the company has about 1,000 employees, most of whom live in the company's dormitory, the rest live outside. The company's salary delay for 4 consecutive months left workers without money to cover their living expenses and had to take out loans to make ends meet. The new school year is approaching, many people are worried about paying school fees for their children, buying clothes and books.
