The multitasking problem of young people today
In the context of increasing living costs and competitive job opportunities, many young people choose to do many jobs at the same time as a way to increase income and accumulate experience. However, behind that dynamism is no small amount of pressure.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Ngoc (22 years old, Hanoi) is a typical example. Currently, Ms. Ngoc takes on 2 parallel jobs, in which the main job is livestreaming, and the side job is participating in dance troupes.
According to Ms. Ngoc, the biggest motivation to do many things is finance.
Doing 2 jobs will complement each other's income, helping me have more finances from many sources. I also want to try my hand in many fields to discover myself," Ms. Ngoc shared.
Not only stopping at 2 jobs, Ms. Dang Chau Anh (24 years old, Hanoi) even takes on 3 different roles at the same time: teaching English, doing communication (writing scripts, filming) and participating in foreign affairs to build projects, connecting partners. For Ms. Chau Anh, doing many jobs brings excitement because they are all fields she loves.
However, along with that is no small pressure. The biggest difficulty is the time fund. Sometimes I feel quite tired because of a tight work schedule. Although happy to do what I like, fatigue is inevitable," Ms. Chau Anh said.
Potential risks if time is not managed well
According to psychologists and soft skills experts, doing many things at the same time can bring many benefits such as increasing income, financial flexibility and expanding professional experience. However, the downside of this trend is also not small.
Psychologist Nguyen Duc Chinh - NHC Vietnam Center for Human Development and Psychology - said that taking on many tasks with a tight schedule easily makes young people fall into a state of exhaustion.
The fact that young people take on more than 2 jobs at the same time is very easy to fall into a state of exhaustion. Because every day, you have to face a large workload, moving from one point to another; at the same time, the time spent on family and personal relationships is also narrowed, affecting long-term connection. This greatly affects your long-term future," expert Duc Chinh shared.

Besides, the pressure to fulfill many roles at the same time can reduce the quality of work, even leading to psychological stress.
When taking on many jobs, if not controlled well, young people are prone to falling into the vortex of overwork without achieving the desired results. From there, psychological problems arise, greatly affecting your lives," expert Duc Chinh emphasized.
From a skill perspective, Mr. Do Ngoc Son - Director of ST Lighthouse Institute of Soft Skills - said that the most important thing is that each person needs to understand themselves clearly.
Young people need to know their strength, capacity and limits of how many jobs they can handle. If they feel they do not have enough time or health, they need to learn how to allocate and even give up inappropriate choices, because knowing oneself and knowing your enemy, you will win in every battle," Mr. Son shared.
According to Mr. Son, prioritizing the most suitable job for themselves will help young people develop more sustainably, instead of chasing after quantity and neglecting quality.
