The Hanoi - Quang Ninh high-speed railway project is invested by VinSpeed High-Speed Railway Investment and Development Joint Stock Company (Vingroup Group) with a total investment of more than 147,000 billion VND, equivalent to more than 5.6 billion USD (excluding site clearance costs).
The project is expected to use the latest and most modern generation of high-speed trains along with information systems, signals, and world-leading high-class equipment provided by Siemens Mobility (Germany) and will gradually transfer technology to VinSpeed during operation.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Michael Peter - Global General Director of Siemens Mobility Group - Siemens Mobility committed to providing Vietnam with the highest quality, most efficient and safest high-speed train technology that has been verified worldwide.

The foundation of the Velaro train line has created more than 500 trains handed over to 10 countries. Each day, the train runs about a total of 1 million km, which is 3 times the distance from Earth to the moon - with absolute safety real-world verification. The Velaro Novo train is currently the newest and safest generation of high-speed trains. Each train is fully digitally developed, creating maximum energy efficiency and excellent passenger experience.
We will cooperate in extensive technology transfer, jointly assemble and maintain ships, to create a completely new high-speed train ecosystem in Vietnam" - Mr. Michael Peter shared.
The project passes through 4 localities: Hanoi - Bac Ninh - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh with a length of 120.2 km, designed according to double-track standards, rail gauge 1.435mm, electrification of the entire route, maximum speed up to 350km/h, especially the section through Hanoi has a maximum speed of 120km/h.
The starting point of the route is located at Co Loa station (Vietnam Exhibition Center, Vinhomes Global Gate Hanoi Urban Area), the ending point is at Ha Long station (Globe Ha Long Forest Park, Vinhomes Global Gate Ha Long, Quang Ninh).
The route will pass through 3 transit stations: Gia Binh (Bac Ninh), Ninh Xa (Hai Phong), Yen Tu (Quang Ninh) and has 1 depot located at Ha Long terminal station.
According to the plan, the project will be completed and officially put into operation and commercial exploitation in 2028, shortening the travel time from Hanoi to Quang Ninh by 5-7 times, from more than 2 hours to only about 23 minutes.

One of the highlights of this railway line is that it only has 4km above-ground; the elevated railway section of about 116 km is structured with viaducts, overflow bridges, road overpasses, railway overpasses and arranged access roads to stations and depots.
To build a series of viaducts, overflow bridges, road overpasses, railway overpasses..., there will be more than 3,400 bridge piers on the entire route.
