On October 22, the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City, in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Informatics Association (HCA), opened the Ho Chi Minh City Digital Transformation Week 2024 with the theme "Digital technology - New growth driver of Ho Chi Minh City".
This year's event has many innovations, increasing both the number of activities and the depth of content compared to previous years. Compared to 2023, the number of booths participating in the technology exhibition increased from 30 to over 40 booths; the number of conference sessions increased from 4 to 7 sessions; the number of speakers increased from 20 to more than 30 people.
Unlike 2023, which focused on the application and data fields, this year the content of the digital transformation week in Ho Chi Minh City focuses on the issue of "Exploiting and applying artificial intelligence AI, information security" to effectively exploit data to promote digital government, digital economy, and digital society.
“The city aims to put the entire city administration system into operation on digital platforms by 2025, aiming for comprehensive digital transformation of digital government, creating a sustainable foundation to promote digital economy, digital society and smart urban development,” said Mr. Lam Dinh Thang - Director of the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City.
By 2030, Ho Chi Minh City will have fully formed a smart city data platform to serve the development of digital government, digital economy and digital society, with data being widely shared throughout society. To achieve that goal, Ho Chi Minh City has set out 7 major orientations in the coming time.
Ho Chi Minh City emphasizes that digital transformation must always go hand in hand with green transformation, developing green industry associated with digital industry.
Prioritize the development of digital infrastructure, modernization and being one step ahead to promote digital transformation of the city, develop digital economy and digital society.
The city also maximizes its authority to develop policies for digital transformation, operating in a pioneering digital environment to create the development of the digital economy and digital society, playing a decisive role in promoting innovation.
The locality also identified digital governance based on digital technology and digital data as the foundation for city governance in the 2026-2030 period, ensuring rapid and sustainable development, improving capacity, effectiveness and efficiency of management...
In the coming time, Ho Chi Minh City will utilize domestic and foreign resources to rapidly develop digital human resources; build policies to effectively attract investors to participate in strategic fields such as digital infrastructure development, digital technology industry, especially semiconductor industry; develop concentrated information technology industrial parks, artificial intelligence, data centers, cloud computing, etc.
