Successfully propagated rare foreign roses
Young man Le Van Ca (born in 1994, in Ha Loi village, Me Linh district, Hanoi) is one of the young people who have succeeded in breeding the rare rose Juliet Rose.
According to Mr. Van Ca, the origin of Juliet Rose comes from the world's largest "rose barn" in England. This flower was bred by botanist David Austin and was nicknamed "million-dollar rose" because of the special breeding process.
Mr. David Austin has been caring for and growing Juliet roses for 15 years and has spent up to 3 million pounds. Juliet roses have a proud and romantic beauty, belonging to the group of large flowers with double petals.
Currently, Mr. Le Van Ca is managing about 30 flower gardens with hundreds of different rose varieties.
With a large flower growing area, Mr. Ca has to hire about 20 experienced people to help take care of the flower garden. This is also an opportunity to create jobs for local people and also promoting Juliet roses in the area.
Mr. Le Van Ca said that 8 years ago, after buying Juliet Rose eyes from abroad, he grafted them onto ivy (a Vietnamese rose variety). Because the weather was not suitable for this plant variety when it was brought to Vietnam from Europe, he had to use breeding techniques to help the plant grow as it is today.
"Not only do I find my outlets, in the future, but I also cherish the idea of creating unique and rare Bonsai rose models to bring to the market," added Mr. Le Van Ca.
