Google is taking another step in the artificial intelligence race by deploying a new generation of search engines capable of automatically tracking information on the internet and proactively sending updates to users.
This technology is considered an important milestone in efforts to turn search engines from a question-and-answer platform into a digital assistant that works on behalf of users.
The new feature is called Information Agents and is currently provided to those who subscribe to the Google AI Ultra package through AI Mode.
Unlike traditional search methods, where users have to continuously enter keywords to check for new information, Information Agents can operate in the background after receiving a request.
The system will automatically track data sources on the internet and send notifications when developments suitable to the set needs appear.
According to Google, these AI agents can monitor many different sources, including news sites, blogs, social networks, financial data, shopping information and sports results.
Users only need to enter commands such as "update information for me about..." or "notice me when..." to activate the feature.
After being set up, the system will continuously scan the web and summarize important changes. When new related information is detected, AI will send a summary for users to grasp quickly without having to perform a search operation again.
Google says this technology can support many different needs in daily life. For example, users looking to rent an apartment can set specific criteria for location, rental price or area. AI will track news sites and send notifications as soon as a suitable choice appears.
In another example, the system can track notifications from famous athletes or brands, then warn when new collaborative products or special sports shoes versions are announced.
The difference of Information Agents lies in the ability to reason to determine which information is really important.
Instead of checking data in a fixed cycle like many AI tools today, the system will automatically assess the relevance of the information before deciding to send updates.
This is seen as a step reflecting Google's long-term vision for the future of the search engine. Instead of acting as a data warehouse for users to exploit themselves, the search engine will become an active assistant, capable of performing monitoring and information aggregation tasks on its own.
