The AI researcher from Hue, with 20 years of experience in the field of artificial intelligence, said, “artificial intelligence is the key to unlocking future revolutions” and “the future of humanity truly depends on artificial intelligence”.
“Vietnam needs to recognize that the AI revolution is happening like an undercurrent, and one day, it will explode into a tsunami that will sweep everything away. In the next decade, this will be a big challenge as many traditional jobs are automated . However, this is also a huge opportunity for Vietnam. While many other countries continue to be bound by current jobs, Vietnam can move forward and develop with AI,” said Mr. Le Viet Quoc.
The AI researcher at Google Group made four recommendations for Vietnam to turn challenges into opportunities. "First, Vietnam should realize that our greatest asset is people. Based on this foundation, we should invest most heavily in artificial intelligence education, especially higher education ," said Mr. Quoc.
The second recommendation that AI expert Le Viet Quoc noted is that Vietnam needs to find ways to utilize high-quality human resources. Third, Vietnam should focus on strongly developing applications of artificial intelligence. Finally, Dr. Le Viet Quoc suggested that Vietnam should establish a high-level advisory council on artificial intelligence and semiconductors.
"Artificial intelligence is developing at a dizzying pace and this council will help make quick, accurate decisions in this cutting-edge field," said Google's AI expert.
Meanwhile, discussing the development of Vietnam's artificial intelligence industry, Master Albert Antoine - co-founder and CEO of Avaiga.com, a member of the academic research team on the impact of AI for Singapore and France - shared: "To achieve today's success, Singapore also went through many struggles and challenges. Therefore, in Vietnam, when facing great struggles and challenges at the beginning of a project, do not be discouraged because to achieve success, you have to go through that stage."
The expert who graduated in AI in 1986 and studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA, emphasized that in developing high technology, Singapore "does not have a magic wand" but has done very well. He shared that in the field of AI, Singapore had a vision very early, with adjustments to the plan every 4 years. Singapore's investment budget for AI is very good, project monitoring is methodical, and KPIs are clear and transparent.
Besides, Singapore has taken very good measures to accelerate "standing on the shoulders of giants". "The giants in fairy tales are strong in muscles but have no heads. Today, giants not only have muscles but also have very high intelligence. To cooperate with them, to let them allow you to stand on their shoulders, you need to show them your value. Therefore, we have to seek values and exchange values" - Mr. Albert Antoine noted.
When asked what Vietnam should do to develop AI, Mr. Albert Antoine said that the Vietnamese government needs to invest a lot more money in AI and needs to develop AI Lab networks well. He affirmed that with his personal experience and relationships with a network of talented AI experts who have worked with the Singapore government, he is ready to connect and accompany to advise and support the country.
