Apple allows buying games on PS5 with Apple Pay

PlayStation 5 users can now buy games on the PlayStation Store with Apple Pay payment.

This is the first time Apple Pay has appeared as a direct payment option on the PS5 gaming experience, in addition to familiar methods such as credit cards, savings cards, and PayPal.

According to 9to5 Mac, the Apple Pay option may appear at the payment step when users choose to buy a game on the PS5. This feature works through a QR code, allowing users to scan the code displayed on the TV screen with an iPhone. After that, the iOS device will have a payment confirmation screen, completing the transaction quickly and conveniently.

Apple Pay has been supported in web browsers or mobile apps when purchasing content for the PlayStation, but this is the first time this method has been integrated directly into the console. This opens up the choice for PS5 users, especially those who regularly use the Apple ecosystem.

In addition, for Apple Card users, paying with Apple Pay on PS5 also has the added benefit of a 2% refund for each transaction. This is a notable plus for those who want to save when buying digital games.

There is currently no official information about the support area, however, PlayStation's support page has provided more details about where Apple Pay can be used. In addition, it is also possible that Apple Pay will be expanded to PS4 devices through a future software update.

The integration of Apple Pay directly into the PS5 shows that Sony and Apple are continuing to cooperate to improve the user experience, while adding flexibility in payment methods for gamers.
