Apple is said to be preparing a series of major changes for Siri, in which the feature of automatically deleting chat history to enhance user privacy protection is prominent.
According to famous American technology journalist Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, privacy will become the focus when Apple introduces the new Siri version at the Worldwide Developers Conference WWDC in June.
This is also considered an important step for Apple to reaffirm its position in the increasingly competitive artificial intelligence race.
Sources said Apple may launch the first independent Siri application, supported by the Google Gemini AI model.
This application is expected to bring a similar experience to chatbots like ChatGPT, allowing users to chat more naturally with virtual assistants.
However, unlike many AI platforms today, the new Siri may be designed with stricter limits on data storage time and access to personal information.
One of the notable features is the ability to automatically delete conversations after 30 days or a year, similar to the mechanism currently available on Apple's Message app. Users can also choose to keep history indefinitely if they want.
According to Mark Gurman, Apple is likely to emphasize the privacy factor to differentiate itself from other AI competitors in the market.
However, this can also be seen as the company's explanation for why Siri is still not as strong as many competing products, especially when part of the security and AI technology is said to be from Google.
