Apple announced this data in the product information sheet as required by the European Union (EU) energy label regulations. Accordingly, smartphone manufacturers must self-assess repairability based on many criteria, including dismantling depth, screws, tools, spare parts, software update time and repair information.
Compared to the previous generation, iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max have an overall score of 3.14 points, an increase of 0.10 points compared to 3.04 for iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Specifically, the detachment depth criterion reached 2.75 points, an increase of 0.10 points; the tool reached 2.55 points, an increase of 0.50 points. Meanwhile, the score for screws remained at 3.80; spare parts 4 points; software updates 1 point and repair information 5 points.
Data shows that the structure and repair process of iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro are quite similar, but the new generation has some improvements in tools and dismantling depth. Apple's legal documents do not specify which new tools are used to access which components.
Both iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro are rated C on the rating scale shown on the iPhone's label.
The changes inside the iPhone 18 Pro may be clarified further when repair units proceed to disassemble the device. The iFixit repair website is expected to disassemble one of the new iPhone models in or immediately after the product's release date of September 18.
Meanwhile, iPhone Duo does not allow pre-orders, so Apple has not announced data on the repairability of this folding screen iPhone model in a similar way.
